Sleep, chimes, stories, finds! <3
sleep: what is the most comforting thing at night time for you?Lately I’ve found that cosleeping is very comforting. I love cuddling with people I feel safe around. I generally don’t like touching people, but when someone is safe to me then I am 100% okay with sleeping near them. I’m kind of afraid of the dark sometimes so having other people there with me at all helps. I also sleep with a stuffed gecko so that’s helpful. I also find that quiet music is nice when I’m sleeping. I can fall asleep with nearly anything playing.
chimes: what sounds are your favorite?I really like the sound of a ticking clock. I find it very reassuring and calming because of how even and measured the beats are. I also like metronomes for the same reason. I really like the sound of rain on the roof. Can I be weird for a sec here? I like the sound of your voice. It’s very calming.
stories: books you remember from your childhoodI remember one called “My Many Colored Days” that I really liked, and it had one specific page that said “Gray day. Everything is gray. I watch, but nothing moves today.” My mom always read that with the exact same inflection every time, so to this day on overcast days, I think of that page from the book. I often say it too, so if you ever hear me say it, that’s why.
finds: what kind of item would you most likely buy from an antique store?I’m always a slut for old records. I also like old keys. I’m usually drawn to jackets and coats as well. There’s this antique shop at home that my sister and I go to every now and then that’s got a whole wall of old records. We go there and look through all the old VHS tapes and laugh about what we find. I guess as a general rule I’m drawn to stuff I can use in some way.
Hello! I would like to offer my personal and Heathendom-specific blogs for the safe space list (runicbasso and wyrdwanderings). Thanks, and keep up the great work.
Vetted and added, with apologies to the delay

Christian marketing has literally no chill whatsoever.
I think it’s hard to be chill, though, because any word that has a positive connotation for the religion is going to immediately set off a flag. Like, any mention of “faith”, though subtle in most places, stands out like a sore thumb in a business context. Even making nods toward being a good neighbor, values, etc, people start to ‘suspect’, as loaded a word that is.
I mean, the main function of Christianity is unwavering devotion to God, so you basically have to decide “do I do my duty as a good Christian and openly praise the Lord?” or “do I tone down the religious beliefs I founded my company on in order to appeal to and serve a wider audience?” I don’t think either answer is inherently right or wrong, but you really can’t go subtle and quiet with the first one.
That being said, Christian Hip-Hop CDs are a little shoehorned in.

runicbasso replied to your post:I have to think really hard to find operatic male...
Papageno is probably one of the least problematic dudes in opera. Zauberflöte has problems, but Papageno is probably the least of them.
Okay but like literally his first aria includes describing how he wants to catch girls by the dozen and trade them for sugar and keep the best one for himself?
runicbasso replied to your post:names bother me. not like other people’s names....
Holy shit, I haven’t seen this described so perfectly. Yeah, I feel very similarly for myself as a trans person looking for a new name.
i dunno if it’s related to the trans stuff for me or if it’s the dissociation stuff (or something else entirely, egad), but yeah. it’s a weird feeling. glad to know i’m not alone, lol.
the blog, shitroughdrafts, is based off the book of the same name, written by comedian Paul Laudiero. The difference is that the blog allows people to submit filked or parodied things, as if they were shitty first drafts of a well-known media thing (book, film, etc.). :>
Oh! I didn’t know this! Thank you for that. it makes much more sense now.
