Half Marathon Training Week 19
My long run this week was 10.5 miles and it was definitely the hardest run since I started this training plan. The weather was nice if a little warmer that the usual DC in October but I mainly stayed to the trails and shade. And I’m recovered to from the bad cold/respiratory infection from a few weeks ago so I don’t really have any excuses for why it was such a struggle to get through this run. My pace was terrible and I thought about turning back and quitting several times but managed to power through the full 10.5 miles. Granted, my mental health hasn’t been the best since the hurricanes in Houston and Puerto Rico and the president being a human dumpster fire but running has always been a stress and anxiety coping strategy for me so this struggle is doubly frustrating. I’ve been meaning to get back into a regular yoga practice to help with my lower back pain and I know I feel best physically and mentally when I can run at least 3-4 times a week and practice yoga at least once. My plans to do yoga at home have not been working out but I managed to make it to a free outdoor class today so that was my major training victory this week. The race is in less than a month so just staying on track is my main goal for next weeks training.
