He  had  shown  it  before  ,  the  desire  to  kill  him  ,  as  if  digging  into  his  emotions  so  carefully  , hoping  that  he’d  lose  control  ,  be  unable  to  keep  a  level  head  and  he’d  be  given  an  excuse  to  act  on  his  impulse. But  Atreus  was  as  stubborn  as  he  was  easy  to  anger  ,  and  he  wouldn’t  allow  the  all - knowing  God  to  beat  him at  such  a  game.  Especially  one  that  he  could  play  ,  too. “ It’s  not  worth  it. ”

Now this was an interesting development and one that had, shockingly, taken Heimdall somewhat by surprise. He had wholeheartedly believed the boy to fall back to his previous behavior- fire first and think about consequences later- but... he hadn't! Instead, he had stepped between the two and diffused the situation, refused to give in to the anger Heimdall was certain his words were creating. The boy learns fast.

"Well, I think it's time for use to return, don't you? That is, if you two are done with your tantrum." He turns away from them, a small smile cracked upon his lips. A sense of pride in his chest overshadowed by the bitterness of not getting what he was after. He'll have to try again with a different method next time. He'll have to dig deeper, find that spark that ignites the flame. Then, and only then, would he have reason to remove the parasite. Would it put him in bad light with the All-Father? Certainly, but it was a risk worth taking for the safety of his realm.

THE FORCE CRACKLES AROUND THE BOY,   but not in any way that would signify a warning, or make obi-wan’s hackles raise in alarm.  no, to him, it seems to be the child’s natural state of being, in a way;  neither good nor bad.  it simply . . .  is.   and it is curious, to say the least  --   as curious as he is about his lightsaber, no doubt.  obi-wan cannot help but smile a bit, at that;  the corners of his eyes crinkling in a familiar fondness, of moments long past.

                     "        arteus, then.    a pleasure.   obi-wan, at your service.      "  

          "       [     .   .   .    ]      ah.    perhaps a trade?    if you can tell me where you are trying to get back to,  i’ll tell you about my sword.    sound fair,  young one?    "

A guttural roar filled the air alongside a mechanical SNAP! The sounds of a struggle echoed through the forest, leading to a frantic and enraged dragon caught in a tree-trap. Their hind foot was strung up in the zip-tie snag, a rather harmless looking trap but a one nonetheless.

The beast turned their head back towards the branch and shot a couple blasts into the tree, but it was to no avail. They could not get a good angle on the branch and the string was some-kind of dragon-proof fiber.

The dragon's ear twitched as they swore they heard something approaching them. The turned to the sound and hissed, ready to protect themselves if needed.

Kratos looked down at his son, who was so much taller than he used to be, and he felt a momentary twinge in his heart. Atreus was growing up. He was getting taller, broader, coming into his own. And seeing his son continue to grow, to thrive made Kratos infinitely proud of him, of the man he was becoming.

And yet, there were times that he couldn't help but wonder, as he saw Atreus grow year after year, what Calliope might have been like, had she had a chance at life.

He looked down at his own hands, still white with the ashes of his first family, and he knew that he had to tell Atreus. It was long past time to speak of such things...., and though he didn't like to talk about his previous life......, his son deserved to know a more human side of his father, though Kratos had not been that man in a very long time.

Kratos looked up at Atreus, who looked so much like his mother. He watched him for a moment before speaking, "You are outgrowing your tunic," he said, matter-of-factly. That issue could be addressed first, though he did still intend to tell him about his sister.

GUILT , it was prominent in blue eyes as he examined the dwarf and the bandage wrapped around his head ; he hadn’t meant to – the bear controlled him , so intertwined with his emotions it consumed him , making recollections of his actions impossible. Still , it wasn’t an excuse. Not for the harm he caused , especially to the one person who had done so much for him.

Who had been supporting and helping him from the beginning. 

“ Can I help with anything? ”

the gaze which so often was filled with kindness (and disgust) was changed. DIFFERENT. it now rested upon the anvil. gloved hands stopped, laying the heavy hammer down. all of the movements stopped. as if time itself had been frozen. fear, shame and DISAPPOINTMENT. all of these were inside those brown orbs. a coming storm of emotions. the dwarf didn't dare to meet atreus' eyes. he had been a fool, thinking it would have been possible to calm the boy when he had turned into a bear. they were friends, they were FAMILY. sindri had even shared his deepest secret with the young one. but he had been wrong. so wrong. attacked and hurt, both physically and emotionally. he wanted to forgive, to move on, but there was a nagging feeling inside. DOUBT.

a heavy sigh escaped as hands were thrown up. a gesture of defeat. he couldn't be upset forever. not with atreus. " could you find something that will help brok? he has been complaining about his pounding head all day. i think freya have some... " it took strength to not gag at the mention of the dried plants. all the nasty little beasties. DISGUSTING. " herbs over there. "

- Switcheroo and Atreus is in Greece! Meeting certified good boy Cerberus??

- oh but I also I have a vague verse where Nico meets Odin when he first arrives in the north so he’s working for Odin. Maybe Nico and Atreus meet in Asgard?

- Idk if you have a modern verse, but I could definitely see demigod Nico accidentally running into Atreus somehow. Maybe like in a reincarnation au for Atreus?
