The Cluster was found on site when we first started building the facility, though we hadn’t investigated until we were fully finished. They seemingly share descent with your average Moray eel. Other than of course the fact they are all bigger and longer than a school bus or two, they have just about the all same traits! They were found tightly curled to each other, like many moray species tend to do.
Originally we only found four of them together, Moray, CryBaby, SnapJaw, and Smokee (all generously named by staff), with the “Sisters” found a ways away. They all seem to be dead and rotted versions of the Morays merged together by undersea bacteria and flora, and their smoke has a tar-like texture. They are kept in a separate containment.
Crybaby is the only confirmed female moray (other than the Sisters), and they all seem to be of the same clutch (meaning they’re siblings!).
Extra design notes below!
That description might get edited later…
oh ignore the sisters here, SOMEONE had to invade the canvas and attempt to draw the sisters (you know who you are)
Being completely honest, there’s a LOT to say about these, so if anyone has questions about designs or story please ask us and we’ll try to help. Anyways these are important to drawing:
Snapjaw is LONG, much longer than his design sheet. Feel free to extend his “shadow” however much you want
the Sisters don’t look like they have eyes, but when she gets angered or spots prey they will drop down into all available sockets (of which she has three, her left on the middle head (HER left) and both on her left head (the green one, or HER left)). The eyes are off-white and foggy (as seen on our banner!)
They all have different muzzle designs, which Smokee being more flat and Snapjaw having the overall longest (he’s just SO BIG oh my word)
they also all have different “nostrils” and it’s a small detail but our artist will giggle and kick their feet if you follow the guide (it’s as optional as Everests paws by the way, we don’t care)
what isn’t optional is their gills, yes they’re all different and help build head shape, please follow those guides
teeth design also matter (they don’t have specified colors so you can use the banner as reference, most of them are yellowed/grey/can be the same color as the moray itself)
the Sisters can have whatever you want thrown onto them. They’re a combination of three dead Morays and various other things that died, so you can include other dead sea creatures (like the fish fins on her ref)
Please don’t ask how they would traverse the facility, they consider that rude and would prefer you not talk about their size. They can fit through human-sized doors and will not tell you how or why.
They have a lot of tags, so you can check but their main one will be:
The cluster RuralLight
that’s when their all together (the cluster, May or may not be sisters), and each one will get their own tag (including name and RuralLight for clarification)
Everest Eclipse is our designated experiment feeder and handler. After being tested on himself in our experiments for possible gills and night vision in our soldiers, we exposed him to some of our other subjects, who all seemed to take a much greater liking to him compared to our former feeders.
Everest formerly was a dogsled musher, though that profession was quickly taken from him after he was blamed for a fire that killed almost a dozen and injured even more during a competition. RuralLight ever so greatly has taken his death sentence into our own hands, and he’s been legally classified as dead for quite some time now. Alas, his life has been much more useful for testing future technology in our facilities.
His experiment consists of a multitude of species, including (most notably):
Sea Lion
Humpback whale
Orca / Killer whale
various species of fish
and more!
He was the main cause to RuralLights entity outbreak, and is to be captured or killed on sight.
Extra design notes are stated below!
Everests tag - Everest Eclipse RuralLight (may be shortened) (we added just Everest eclipse)
Spotlights were a founded subspecies of the already identified SearchLights, though they came with a series of differences to differentiate them from their cousins.
For one, Spotlights were found in cold waters, much colder than those SearchLights were originally found in. We found it interesting they could withstand the below-freezing sea floor around our facilities.
It also seems they have a much different way of hunting. Their hooks act more like anchors than they do lures, and they will instead shoot them into the ground and pull the rest of their body towards their prey. With this, they also have detachable jaws, and their mouth allows for these bones to be flexible with where it aims.
On top of all of this, they are distinctly smaller than their counterparts, and also have a much more prey-like patterning, which leaves us to wonder what else may be out there. So far, our only conclusion for Spotlight predators is whales that venture into the deep.
(They also feature an extra pair of limbs! These fins help with balance and speed, though we also suppose it regulates their temperature and helps with steady blood flow throughout the body)
———
(Yes, we kept them extremely close to canon, as A. We were having trouble with their design, and B. Gastralia, we are extremely interested in your love for the Searchlights. Our artist kept you in mind when designing these guys <3 )
Extras Below!
Reference without notes!
Spotlights were highly based off of Pacific White-Sided Dolphins, one of Alaskas whale residents! This is why they have more whale-shaped tails and it explains [most of] their patterning.
When drawing: you can use the same color of the tail when coloring the eyes, we used the bloom tool on those dull colors featured in the smaller drawings above.
From the artist: Uhm, yes, I made these with the utmost passion? Gastralia has been one of our earliest followers (it really hasn’t been long but still) and they reblog basically every character post we have! Thank you, if you’re reading this, and also these were made with you in mind! I wanted to keep them as close to canon as we could and we were having trouble finalizing a design for them, so we just said “why not? For the fans!” Thank you so much for giving us the motivation to continue this story, and I wish you luck on yours! (This goes to everyone too! Thank you!)
Their eyes have one pair on the bottom of their bodies (front pair) and one leaning more towards their sides (the back pair), this allows for better vision of the sea floor and what’s behind them.
Yes, searchlights are canon in our universe but you would never see them near RuralLight facilities. As stated before, the water is too cold for migration here.
Movement wise, their tails (especially the end) move up and down like a mammal would. This is simply because of their tail shape, as this method of movement proves to be much more efficient than side to side.
Also had to include this gem of an image, thank you Gastralia2 you’re so amazing 🥹
In the early development of our building, sea angels were found around the colder waters near our facility, and were found to be much larger than the average sea angel might be. After finishing, our staff held an unnecessary amount of interest towards them. With this unnatural growth (and our employees own boredom and loneliness) we decided to try and turn them into office pets. Eventually, tests turned them into the sweethearts as you see them now.
Newly named Arctic Sea angels have been found taking items and storing them elsewhere, or hiding them and watching employees try to find them. We are… unsure as to where they learned this behavior. It is encouraged to not give them anything of value, as they won’t always give you the same thing back.
Extra design details under cut!
they’re pretty cute you should check them out wink wink hint hint nudge nudge
SCARY TRADITIONAL ART AHHHHHHH
Here we go!
They are partially transparent (just as transparent as a Sea Angel would normally be) but feel free to draw them however!
Their “eyes” aren’t actual eyes! They’re mimicry methods these guys have, and they can’t actually see. Their “whiskers” (or extra appendages seen in the photo above) are mostly how they navigate.
that or they are just the ultimate life form
Very squishy, very friendly
What else do I say- they’re basically the same that they originally were (sea bunnies), and we’re so so sorry if it’s too close it’s the best we got.
Anie is canonically just a computer, it’s just that our reference sheet is her as a robot as a lot of people like to draw them that way. You can take creative liberties when drawing / imagining this character!

The Animator is a computerized* art and animation program made by [Classified] who was an asset RuralLight was looking forward to owning once we found out about its presence! Its creator spent years exposing the Animator to different places and experiences in order to allow it to produce art that looks as close to human-made as any bot has made. We had offered to purchase the machine off of them, but that was met with… ah, unfortunate consequences when we were declined in said offer.
After bringing the program to our premises we planned to use the art it made for profit. Sadly, its newfound sentience made this a difficult task to complete, and ultimately we ended locking it into our heavy containment facilities after its results came back illegible.
[The Animator, or Anie as nicknamed by the creator and itself, goes by She/He/They/Any pronouns (going in order from most used to least, she uses she/her first, he/him second, they/it & they/them when absolutely necessary, and any others aren’t preferred but accepted!). Please please follow these guidelines for our little shehehehe <3]
Extra design notes are as stated below!
dream manhunt turned prison roleplay 😔
haha woah who said that? Anyways here’s the notes:
As stated before, SHES A COMPUTER!! She has a set (but flexible) anthro (?) design we made before her computer design, and our artist thought our extra references would be enough to point people in the right direction. Minus the “ears” (or antenna?) that’s basically his computer design?
You can see their computer design in both these notes and our banner image!
the bow is a very important gift from Everest, please try to include it if drawing Anie!
The Paws on her hands are just as optional as Everests, feel free to include or exclude them, your choice!
He can make any face! Either he uses the emoticons or she draws her own face, though it takes a lot of effort to do so! Usually they use the simpler option.
Uh Everest doesn’t call him “Anie” as a nickname but if you got this far we might tell you later 👀
Animators tag is as stated:
The Animator RuralLight (or) Anie RuralLight
Edit 5/30/26: *Changed it to computerized because I don’t know if tumblr isn’t pushing out our art as much because I had “ai” there? We HATE gen AI so please push us back out there tumby <3
Sonar is one of our favorite specimens by far. She was raised from a pup by members of our staff, and helped us in our effort to add limbs to subjects! She was hatched as an altered filetail catshark who just so happened to be albino! Sadly, in our efforts to add DNA to her, she lost her vision about a year and a half into her experiment. After her eyes failed, she became much for jumpy and suspicious of us, so we ultimately had no choice but to change her handling to only Everest.
Her main mutations include:
Filetail Catshark (main host)
Beluga
glass-bellied frog
feline genetics (Cougar/Puma/MountainLion or other big cat*)
In the events that took place, she has been released from her containment and has now made home in [_______]. We warn new entries to be careful of this area.
Extra design notes below!
CLICK ON THE IMAGES TO SEE THE FULL THING!
From these images, if you have any questions please send asks or ask in the comments. They tend to be confusing.
*Uh so we really couldn’t decide on the feline that we wanted to mutate her with so you can really pretend it’s anything.
Her design is very flexible! She doesn’t have to have that blue/pink shine but we added it to add to her character.
Most if not all traditional art you see of her was done with little or no reference and is mainly memory, always look back at her digital reference sheet for confident design details.
If you’re curious, traditional art is made with a multicoloured pen, a white-out marker, and highlighters.
She has FOUR front toes and THREE back toes on her paws! Of course this is altered with design but that’s her canon amount.
like said on her design sheet, her fins are transparent, but that’s completely optional when it comes to drawing her.
One last thing: Sonar was a replacement for Eyefestation but her final design ended up becoming a replacement Grand Encounter. Please expect to see a different replacement for Eyefestations mechanic.
Jetstream was the more… difficult subject for our limb testing. His tests took place before Sonars, and even though his went a considerable amount better than hers ever did, his genetics made him unbearably aggressive. Our staff considered euthanizing him, though ultimately decided against it when we realized he and Sonar had an unlikely sibling-like connection.
He too is kept in our heavy containment sectors, much like the Animator, though he is kept with our living specimens. After the outbreak, he received possibly life-threatening wounds and various restrictions (as seen with the trash and such items scattering his body) that have limited his ability to traverse the facility.
After leading our blind Sonar to the utmost annoying spot she could be in, he supposedly claimed territory elsewhere. It’s suggested the Player stay away from that area unless necessary.
Jetstream, though going with no voice for himself as he is an animal, does in fact go by He/They pronouns. He is our little demiboy, please be respectful to both him and others!
- - -
IMPORTANT: JetStream is based off of the Inuit folklore of Akhlut (an orca/wolf shapeshifting creature) and will come to inhabit the personality of both it and the animals its meant to represent.
Edit July 18, ‘26: After further study, Akhlut is also a shared myth in Yup’ik folklore. Sorry about that mix-up. For the record, Jetstream is based off of the shared figure in both cultures
-More characters will come to be based off of Inuit and Yup’ik folklore, if anyone feels offended by our characters please contact us and we’ll try to come to a resolution on these topics. The last thing we want is to offend someone and/or a majority of people.
Extra design notes below!

Wolf and orca, where can this go wrong?
Teeth and gum colors are seen on the image above
RED scars (face and side) are there after the outbreak, the X scar on his leg is from experimentation.
accessories are completely optional (but we suggest you keep the kelp, or else he just looks boring)
He and Sonar are SIBLINGS! We demand there be no shipping of the two
Claws (like sonar) are the same color as his eyes (as seen above as well, yes the claws are the canon color)
He has both gills on his neck and blowholes on the top of his head. They would breach the water almost like an alligator would.
