As stated before, welcome to RuralLight! A Pressure based blog for those who donât feel comfortable with the characters and/or storyline after everything, and also for those who would like to join us as we develop our story! Posts may not be often, but we (the three owners of the blog, story, and characters) are trying our best to get a solid storyline and gameplay idea for RuralLights concept.
RuralLight is not a game, (Roblox or other), it is simply a pile of OCâs and story based off of what Pressure had. We are simply re-writing the characters into our own (similar to what others have done already)

im going to stop adding tags here and start adding them to the tags of this post instead, weâre two characters in and Iâm already getting annoyed
DO NOT confuse us with the ruralight tag, we truly do not want to steal their spotlight (weâre just so far along into our story at the moment that it feels wrong for us to change our name, please we beg let us coexist)
Sedna, Mother of the Sea, is our first caught specimen from what we can only describe as the afterlife of these waters. After a hardy fight and the loss of one of our members, along with a number of injuries, she was moved from there to our heavy containment, where she was studied until the outbreak.
She seems to speak in a frequency too low for us to understand, much like whale song, and possesses the features of many animals associated with the ocean.
Along with having all of these details, she is also the suspected creator of the VoidStar, and any void mass brought into her room seems to gravitate towards her. (Moving StarChasers through the halls near her room proved this, as they were all determined to get as close as possible to the edge of their containment in order to get to her.)
Sedna is a being, goddess and deity, from Inuit mythology. If you happen to take offense to her design or story, please tell us and weâll try to make amends, the last thing we want is for someone to take offense.

This is a REALLY messy notes sheet and not everything here is canon, so please take that into mind when looking at this.
(Pana / Pinga being lovers will most likely stay, and we have plans for her StarChaser form)
Sedna, in terms of lore, is very connected to Everest, and the character she has beef with will act as our Lopee (is that how you spelt it, we just call him lo-peepee), aka Everests boss, and itâs genuinely just devil v angel on the shoulders of poor Everest these two.
Our artist had a really hard time putting a dress on her like the other two so please be kind when / if drawing her, feel free to give her some kind of cover-up as we will NOT be drawing and posting nsfw art.
Edit to this ^^^ : We will have art of her with a coverup, but her reference will be without it unless we decide to go back and change it. If or when that happens this will not be reposted, weâll just change the image. Long story short, sure, she gets a cute crop-top at some point but sheâs also an all mighty goddess and replacement for the Guardian Angel, so I doubt Scientists would appreciate the blockage clothing would provide. Just please dont draw her completely nude.
Sedna, when imprisoned in Rurallight facilities and after the outbreak, can put her energy into creating herself her very own StarChaser body (aka, a transportation of the soul. If the vessel dies or goes too far, the soul is retracted back to the original body. She uses this to interact more with Everest and lead StarChasers to protect the VoidStar in hopes itâll aid her own escape).
Feel free to simplify or over complicate her tail design. It was a pain to draw anyways, just use the right colors <3

Extra extra!! Sheâs based off of Capricorns as well, the half ram/goat half fish creature. This is why she sports sheep-like âearsâ (like how Pana is a fox and Pinga a Reindeer/deer in general)
Spotlights were a founded subspecies of the already identified SearchLights, though they came with a series of differences to differentiate them from their cousins.
For one, Spotlights were found in cold waters, much colder than those SearchLights were originally found in. We found it interesting they could withstand the below-freezing sea floor around our facilities.
It also seems they have a much different way of hunting. Their hooks act more like anchors than they do lures, and they will instead shoot them into the ground and pull the rest of their body towards their prey. With this, they also have detachable jaws, and their mouth allows for these bones to be flexible with where it aims.
On top of all of this, they are distinctly smaller than their counterparts, and also have a much more prey-like patterning, which leaves us to wonder what else may be out there. So far, our only conclusion for Spotlight predators is whales that venture into the deep.
(They also feature an extra pair of limbs! These fins help with balance and speed, though we also suppose it regulates their temperature and helps with steady blood flow throughout the body)

Reference without notes!
Spotlights were highly based off of Pacific White-Sided Dolphins, one of Alaskas whale residents! This is why they have more whale-shaped tails and it explains [most of] their patterning.
When drawing: you can use the same color of the tail when coloring the eyes, we used the bloom tool on those dull colors featured in the smaller drawings above.
From the artist: Uhm, yes, I made these with the utmost passion? Gastralia has been one of our earliest followers (it really hasnât been long but still) and they reblog basically every character post we have! Thank you, if youâre reading this, and also these were made with you in mind! I wanted to keep them as close to canon as we could and we were having trouble finalizing a design for them, so we just said âwhy not? Their eyes have one pair on the bottom of their bodies (front pair) and one leaning more towards their sides (the back pair), this allows for better vision of the sea floor and whatâs behind them.
Yes, searchlights are canon in our universe but you would never see them near RuralLight facilities. As stated before, the water is too cold for migration here.
Movement wise, their tails (especially the end) move up and down like a mammal would. This is simply because of their tail shape, as this method of movement proves to be much more efficient than side to side.

The Sea Angels are the ONLY creature we encourage close proximity to. Though for your second question:
Sea angels are actually quite smooth, and would feel much more jello-y. Theyâre actually pretty squishy! Although, they can change textures. For example, they can get exceedingly sticky if they donât want you touching them, or can take a more sandpaper-like skin type when fighting one another.
Pinga and Pana are the two goddesses who guard our version of death. After using your respective form of payment, (a [redacted] we require our employees to carry) Pana will receive your soul, and Pinga will promptly send you back to a safer place by the area of your demise.
Much about these entities is unknown, although we have captured one of them! [REDACTED] is kept is a large containment in our heavy-security areas, and has been sanctioned there until further notice. Experimentation on the specimen was paused after the outbreak.
We do not endorse a long stay in its room if you do happen upon it.
It will be warned to our employees that if you use their power to your advantage, or end up being considered a nuisance to them, you will in fact be turned down. We take no responsibility for any permanent deaths of our staff, as we provide more than enough for their safety as well as your own.

We fit them to their appropriate roles of reincarnation and heavenly properties, but if you take any offense, or think we mischaracterized them, please speak up. Anyways we wanted to address references taken place while making these characters!
Panaâs design is highly inspired off of the fox from Fox Fires, an animated short film you may know by Keilidh on YouTube! (AKA, this guyvvv)
Pinga on the other hand comes mainly from the help of many references on Pinterest. We had to redo her design a couple times before our artist realized we could really dive into her reindeer aspect of lore.
If anyone would really like, Pinga WILL get a better reference (as SOMEONE kept missing details about her design. (Yeah sorry) This post may change her photo once that happens.

Jetstream was the more⊠difficult subject for our limb testing. His tests took place before Sonars, and even though his went a considerable amount better than hers ever did, his genetics made him unbearably aggressive. Our staff considered euthanizing him, though ultimately decided against it when we realized he and Sonar had an unlikely sibling-like connection.
He too is kept in our heavy containment sectors, much like the Animator, though he is kept with our living specimens. After the outbreak, he received possibly life-threatening wounds and various restrictions (as seen with the trash and such items scattering his body) that have limited his ability to traverse the facility.
After leading our blind Sonar to the utmost annoying spot she could be in, he supposedly claimed territory elsewhere. Itâs suggested the Player stay away from that area unless necessary.
Jetstream, though going with no voice for himself as he is an animal, does in fact go by He/They pronouns. He is our little demiboy, please be respectful to both him and others!

IMPORTANT: JetStream is based off of the Inuit folklore of Akhlut (an orca/wolf shapeshifting creature) and will come to inhabit the personality of both it and the animals its meant to represent.
Edit July 18, â26: After further study, Akhlut is also a shared myth in Yupâik folklore. Sorry about that mix-up. For the record, Jetstream is based off of the shared figure in both cultures

RED scars (face and side) are there after the outbreak, the X scar on his leg is from experimentation.
accessories are completely optional (but we suggest you keep the kelp, or else he just looks boring)
He and Sonar are SIBLINGS! We demand there be no shipping of the two
Claws (like sonar) are the same color as his eyes (as seen above as well, yes the claws are the canon color)
He has both gills on his neck and blowholes on the top of his head. They would breach the water almost like an alligator would.
In the early development of our building, sea angels were found around the colder waters near our facility, and were found to be much larger than the average sea angel might be. After finishing, our staff held an unnecessary amount of interest towards them. With this unnatural growth (and our employees own boredom and loneliness) we decided to try and turn them into office pets. Eventually, tests turned them into the sweethearts as you see them now.
Newly named Arctic Sea angels have been found taking items and storing them elsewhere, or hiding them and watching employees try to find them. We are⊠unsure as to where they learned this behavior. It is encouraged to not give them anything of value, as they wonât always give you the same thing back.

They are partially transparent (just as transparent as a Sea Angel would normally be) but feel free to draw them however!
Their âeyesâ arenât actual eyes! Theyâre mimicry methods these guys have, and they canât actually see. Their âwhiskersâ (or extra appendages seen in the photo above) are mostly how they navigate.

What else do I say- theyâre basically the same that they originally were (sea bunnies), and weâre so so sorry if itâs too close itâs the best we got.
StarChasers are entities extended from the VoidStar, or our power source here at RuralLight. Our testing with its void-like masses gave it a sort of sentience that allowed it to shape around the canine DNA we offered to it. Even though it received canine samples, the creatures themselves act much more feline.
StarChasers are created of the void mass from the Star, and each possess a smaller version of it that acts as a sort of heart and brain. Inside each StarChaser is a random colour, oftentimes a brighter colour like blue, yellow, or green.
Along with this, parts of their body can be replaced with water if they canât produce enough void to maintain form. This wasnât observed until the jailbreak, and their numbers have seemed to double because of this.

They blend into darkness, meaning that against a shadowed background you can only see their eyes in the dark (if itâs dark but you can see the background, you can see their silhouette. Theyâre solid creatures).
yes, the stars are weird but come out in as many directions as possible and have no set shape. These, like the VoidStar, can be lightly coloured.
Probably has one of the most flexible designs of all our characters, just make sure they look like a starchaser really.

Yes! These guys are featured in both the banner and our profile at the moment! It marks the last character we have given hints for so get ready! (We have another almost ready to post and another who just got his final design!)

Sonar is one of our favorite specimens by far. She was raised from a pup by members of our staff, and helped us in our effort to add limbs to subjects! She was hatched as an altered filetail catshark who just so happened to be albino! Sadly, in our efforts to add DNA to her, she lost her vision about a year and a half into her experiment. After her eyes failed, she became much for jumpy and suspicious of us, so we ultimately had no choice but to change her handling to only Everest.

In the events that took place, she has been released from her containment and has now made home in [_______]. We warn new entries to be careful of this area.

*Uh so we really couldnât decide on the feline that we wanted to mutate her with so you can really pretend itâs anything.
Her design is very flexible! She doesnât have to have that blue/pink shine but we added it to add to her character.
Most if not all traditional art you see of her was done with little or no reference and is mainly memory, always look back at her digital reference sheet for confident design details.
If youâre curious, traditional art is made with a multicoloured pen, a white-out marker, and highlighters.
She has FOUR front toes and THREE back toes on her paws! Of course this is altered with design but thatâs her canon amount.
like said on her design sheet, her fins are transparent, but thatâs completely optional when it comes to drawing her.
One last thing: Sonar was a replacement for Eyefestation but her final design ended up becoming a replacement Grand Encounter. Please expect to see a different replacement for Eyefestations mechanic.
