Five Favourite Rush Songs In Chronological Order
1)'2112 Overture/The Temples Of Syrinx' Rush's answer to their record company after disappointing sales of the previous release "Caress Of Steel" but interestingly enough '2112' was completely opposite to what the record company requested;Rush instead decided to do it their way and came up with side long suite rather than singles and the result was a breakthrough record, a concept album of epic proportions that gained them an entirely new audience 2)A Farewell To Kings Rush had a habit of doing a live album and then following it up with a record that goes in a slightly different direction and their album "A Farewell To Kings" which followed the live release "All The World's A Stage"was evidence of this:becoming more inventive in the song structures as well as adding synthesizers to the sound. 3)The Trees "Hemispheres" continues the trend that the previous album "A Farewell To Kings"put into motion and 'The Trees' is a particularly brilliant cut off the album 4)Limelight Clearly "Moving Pictures" was Rush's next "2112" in terms of direction and gaining a new audience and 'Limelight' is my favourite track off the album-the lyrics are universal and it features one of Lifeson's best solos as well. 5)Far Cry This track is off of "Snakes And Arrows" and is seen as a slight throwback to their basic powertrio sound,an extremely exciting song to listen to and the years of experience certainly show in the playing and Geddy Lee's voice sounds particularly good on this song as well
