Self-Para- Rushing from Flames
Gone, nearly everything was just gone. Matilda stood in shock for the most part looking at the damaged rubble that was once her home. The entire front half had completely caved in and the top floor was now on the bottom floor. Thankfully she has been in the backyard with it all happened but fuck. Matilda stood there in shock for a moment. Her hand reaching towards her pocket to retrieve her phone only to find the pocket empty.
Shit, her phone had been on the charger in the living room which was conveniently buried under what used to be her bedroom. After taking a second to gather her thoughts Matilda headed to what remained of her house. She climbed over the rubble and pulled out one of her bags that was sticking out from under some boards. She did some digging searching for specific items as she franticly gathered what she could. With no phone, she had to hurry. She needed to locate her family and Clary. She saw her paintings scattered around but she could always send for them. She grabbed a few clothing items, a leather-bound book and a single hand-made iron rose that now had a dent in the stem. As she headed for the door, she noticed her purse peeking out from some of the kitchen rubble and she snatched that as well. She checked her wallet. She had money and her cards. Okay so she could make it but right now she just needed to find her family. Her best bet was to head to the shop.
Matilda pondered whether she should take her car or not. Though honestly in this mess she had no idea where the keys were. No, her best bet was to start running. After securing her bag around her shoulders; she took off running towards town. Her eyes widening as increasingly horrifying sights feel before her. The whole fucking town was on fire?! The hell happened?! Matilda forced herself to focus. She needed to find her family. They had to be okay, they just had to be. She felt sick to her stomach and panic was slowly starting to set in. The whole town was pretty much destroyed. She could even see dead bodies here and there. People she knew. People she had spoken with. She felt sick but she had to push through.
“Kai!!! Damien!!” She yelled stopping where a once high end clothing store had stood. She felt her eyes stinging with tears that threatened to burst out. No, not like this. She had just gotten her family back. She couldn’t lose them like this! Matilda turned on her heels and rushed towards her shop. Her mind was racing and complete panic was setting in. This town, her home, her friends all destroyed. She had no way of contacting anyone. What was she going to do?...
