Аркона (Arkona) - Yarilo

Arkona are a Russian pagan metal band that draw their influence from folklore and mythology from Eastern Europe. In some respects they are like Korpiklaani, however their musical style is less bouncy, if you follow.

For fans of “The Office”, there was an episode where one of this band’s music videos was playing on a television being watched by the Russian maintenance staff.

Линда (Linda) - Охота (Okhota) [Hunting]

This is just an instrumental number from Linda, but I think it’s amazing and the video compliments it all very nicely.

Encono - False Religion Messiah

Encono, which can be translated from Spanish as Bitterness, Rancor, or Malice, are technically a new band, but have been around since 2007. Initially they started out as “Illusion”, but changed the name after a couple of years. One of the founders of the band eventually quit, but the other kept trudging on and he eventually picked up a couple more musicians to round out the line-up.

Despite years of creating tracks, their first album, E.D., was finally (self-) released in 2013, but their newest one, Existential Embryos’ Playground, was in 2014 under the Insane Records label.

They toured Russia for a little while, holding their CD release party for E.E.P.in Moscow while playing with Combichrist and were a headlining act at the “Stalingrad Industrial Open Air 2014″. From what it appears, they may no longer be together.

MoozE - Predator

Today is a day that will live in infamy. Not Pearl Harbour, but another event, where humanity experienced the worst environmental disaster that we’ve had to date. Today marks the thirtieth anniversary since Man Made Hell.

And what am I doing about it? Posting a song by MoozE, that’s what.

This piece was one of the songs cut from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl soundtrack. I made mention before about how this set of works were more cinematic in their delivery than the ambience we were ultimately given.

At least Wasteland II made the cut.

Diffuzion - Drifting

Diffuzion was formed back in 2005 by a performer known as Fof all the way out in Minsk. For an electro-industrial band, they have a somewhat mellow sound. They have one EP and two full length albums under their belt so far, and I’m looking forward to more.

MoozE - Coming Back With the Desert Eagle

For those of you who have been following me long enough, you’d remember Vladimir Frey, aka MoozE. He was the guy that did a lot of music for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, among others. This one came to mind earlier today, and it does a wonderful job of blending techno with late 60′s/ early 70′s style American rock. Don’t pay too much attention to the lyrics, as fun as it may be. They’re only there to enhance the flavour.

Biopsyhoz - Zlost

Biopsyhoz is an electro-industrial band out of Vladivostok, Russia: a city so far east that it’s a straight shot north from Hiroshima, Japan. Since their founding in 1999, they’ve been refining their sound and experimenting with it, even when it pushed against the standards of Russian music. Since 2008, their experimentation has taken them to working with live instruments and less synth, and much of it has become ambient since then.

Линда [Linda]- Ворона [Vorona] (Biopsyhoz version)

Out of the several remizes I’ve heard of this song, this one is by far my favourite. It gets me thinking that I should dig up some more of Biopsyhoz’s music for you guys some time. The visuals for this video came from a number of Svetlana’s music videos.
