First, I really recommend that watch the short movie before reading the rest of this article. If you dought of its quality and are afraid to lose 30 min of your time, don’t. I loved it. This is a really good story and if you’re curious to discover how does the modern wizard world looks like go for it.
I will now pass on the form. The costumes are amazing and give a nice identity to the Russian magical world. (and without any chapka!!!) The guard’s uniforms are particularly beautiful, well design and my baby Misha looks so good in it. (Please tell me I am not the only one who totally fall for him! I mean, he’s just so cute!!)
We have fantastically made scenes like the animated one, the first one in the office (by the way the painting’s idea was amazing), the cell one and the very symmetric speech one with that beautiful dominant red color.
The music is neat, I have nothing more to say about it.
The only thing I have to say is during some scenes ( I am thinking about the training one) I felt a bit too tight, and I found some plans series too short and too compact and it confused me a bit. The other thing is the subtitles. I have in general some little difficulties following subtitles but this time was harder than usual, and I needed to watch it twice to really get the plot and story.
Anyway, the movie is beautiful and I had a pleasure to watch it again just for all the little details in costumes and backgrounds.
Now the story. This will be short because it’s just so good. In 30 minutes we discover a whole new part of the wizarding world. and it seems logical because it’s a Russian movie but it’s good to see non-caricatural Russian characters. The movie is giving us enough informations and details to have a nice idea of the Russian wizarding world.
All the characters are well written and all have at least a bit of development even in two-three sentences of dialogue. Again in only 30 min the movie is doing a better job than some huge production movies to present even small characters, give them all a function and a bit of back story. (KOF KOF Naguini in Crimes Of Grindelwald KOF KOF)
We also well-developed relationships, between Misha and his brother, between all the guards and the love on of course. The and the different character’s points of view are all coherent and useful to the plot. I won’t make a list because there so much BECAUSE IT’S WELL WRITTEN COM ON-
sorry hem let’s continue
So all of those different points of view and character’s choices feed the main topic which is the relationship between the wizarding world and the nonmagic world making it very interesting with a good bad guy. (I like him a lot)
SO. Beautiful and very well written with amazing characters, this short movie has definitely its place in the wizarding world! I loved it and if anyone would like to share their opinion, correct me or had something please feel free.
