I forgot I was going to post this and then I saw this week’s fandometrics and decided I wanted to at least TRY and stop Otayuri from slipping off the bottom of the ship list.
These are my notes on the Widows from Chapter 5 of Thirst for Adventure! I didn’t actually intend to share them at the time of writing so please excuse grammar and spelling mistakes, and my terrible biro handwriting <3 (I usually use a fountain pen because I’m a snob and it makes my handwriting look neat rather than scrabby)
Also worth noting; ‘Russian’ is a loose term, as the Rus were spread through several slavic countries (or areas which we now recognise as separate countries) at the time.
The book I took these notes from is Russian Myths, a ‘The Legendary Past’ book by Elizabeth Warner.
Terms worth investigation:
Vodyanoi
Rusalka
Roditeli (this translates literally as ‘parents’ or ‘ancestors’ which makes it a nightmare to find info on online, sorry)
Mertuyaki/Zalozhyne (again, these mean ‘ghouls’ and ‘covered up’, respectively, rather than being just a name)
