Thank you very much! I was also wondering if you were accepting story requests. If not that's fine I mainly just want to share some ideas I have. None of them are nsfw by the way, I don't write that kind of stuff.
I’ve never really gotten story requests in the past, but I’m not opposed to it. I do have a LOT of WIPs and projects right now though.
I think for right now I’ll say you’re welcome to send something in, but I reserve the right to decline ofc. And thankfully you already clarified but I’ll also add I will not now or in the future write anything NSFW. That’s always a hard no.
I’m not sure what you’re interested in though? I took a look at your blog and didn’t see any mutual fandom content, but the only thing I have published is fanfic for like 2 of my fandoms? So I’m not really sure why you’re coming to me specifically. /nm
But anyways, you’re welcome to send something in, happy to provide advice as well for your own writing. I apologize for a rather wishy-washy response, it just really depends on a lot of things if I’ll be able to actually write a request.
If you have the time I was wondering if I could get some advice about some stories, I'll be writing in the future.
I don’t really consider myself the most qualified to give advice because I just write as a hobby and don’t actually publish much on ao3, but anyone is welcome to send me asks with any questions they have!
I am always happy to support fellow writers/creatives to the extent I can, so feel free to send another ask.
Some of my super basic tips off the top of my head
DISCLAIMER: This is just what has worked for me. I’m not a professional. This is just a hobby for me.
- try to create routine. I try to set aside at least one hour a day to write on one of my projects, and I set that at roughly the same time every day. I also recommend creating achievable goals. Mine is to write a minimum of 500 words a day.
- Don’t feel chained down or locked in to something you’re working on. If something isn’t right, it’s always okay to start over. That’s a normal part of the process. I never delete scenes, but if I have to start one over I paste the original into a separate document. I recommend not deleting anything; scrapped work can come in handy later or be fun to look back on.
- I am an extremely character motivated writer. This is true for my fanfics and even more true for my original work. What works for me and my guiding principle is to let my characters drive my story. I have loose outlines, but I really narrow in on letting the characters push things forward. Fleshing out characters is the most critical part of my writing, and I spend tons of time on this. In the case of fanfic, I just try really hard to have a good understanding of the character and do my best to evaluate how they’d react to things, even if their reactions aren’t plot convenient.
- read lots!! You have to read to write!! Read other people’s work! On fanfics, authors usually love comments!! I’m not saying you have to do crazy analysis of someone’s fic, but if something about their writing sticks out as being super effective or engaging, comment on it. It both builds community and helps you think more deeply about what you’re consuming. (Just don’t leave rude/critical comments, fanfic authors work for free. Ao3 isn’t the place for that’s Please be kind). Also read lots outside of fanfic in case that wasn’t obvious. Think about what you like and don’t like in professionally published work and how you can apply that to your own craft. Try different genres too!
This advice is meant to apply to both fanfic and original stuff as I’m not sure what you’re going for. I wish you the best of luck in your writing journey!
hi!! i havent talked to you in almost a year - how are you?
ps. even though you reblog a lot of other stuff (i think infinity lake? idk if thats what its called) i still think of you as the ninjago monstrosity person in my phone :)
oh my goodness hiiiii !!! :) I’m good!! My schedule is finally gonna be easing up tomorrow which is great for me and my creative flow hehe. How are you ? :)
ALSO. GIGGLING. Whenever I post outside fandoms people know/follow me for I feel like that one “guess mutual is doing circles now” post. Also the fandom is infinity train and Lake is (one of) my favorite characters. It’s a show I first got into wayyy before I had tumblr hehe.
BUT NINJAGO IS STILL A FAV. Especially monstrosity. I’ve been meaning to rewatch it but I know it will absolutely destroy me. But I have a few unfinished fics sitting in my drafts that are near completion I’d like to finish up and post for it so I’ll do that after I rewatch it :) Kai you will always be famous
I didn’t even have to download this, this was in my recent photos. Love this guy sm still.
PS I still remember you as one of my first moots on this app 💜
I sincerely believe that delaying the Tonight Show into the next day to accommodate another comedy program will seriously damage what I consider to be the greatest franchise in the history of broadcasting. The Tonight Show at 12:05 simply isn't the Tonight Show.
Tumblr is such a fascinating site, where else would I be sent this?
Anon, I’m unsure if you sent this to the wrong blog or not, but I have no idea about anything to do with the Tonight Show. My condolences??
I've never even seen or heard of infinity train before but I've gone on a rabbit hole and the sheer whimsy you exude while talking about it has tipped me over the EDGE
Give me a quote i won't get until I've seen it :] im very excited I haven't seen a new show in forever
-🧤
Unfortunately, I’m not super surprised? I feel like not a lot of people know about it which is such a shame because it’s hands down one of the best cartoons of recent years. In my admittedly biased opinion, I think it’s one of the best story-driven western cartoons ever. But it’s definitely underrated. I don’t even remember how I stumbled upon it back in 2020, I think I saw fanart on Pinterest or something and thought it looked fun. Very grateful I found it though.
I’m so honored my love for this cartoon has gotten you interested. So hard to pick one quote so here’s a couple that stick with me off the top of my head:
“Sometimes numbers are part of the problem, not the solution, y’know?”
“We have to adapt to the changes in our lives.”
There’s other quotes I’m also obsessed with, but I think these fit what you asked for best :)
I truly and sincerely hope you enjoy, Anon!!! If you’d like the link to watch it on the Internet Archive, feel free to send me another ask!
I was wondering why my feed had so much infinity train since u haven’t interacted w the fandom in a while even though I love the show. Then I saw your changed pfp LOL
yeah, it’s one of those fandoms I always keep one foot in and interact with when I see, kinda always on the back burner. But my rewatches (on book 4 rn) always slam me back in.
Realizing I haven't actually talked much about it on this account? Which is insane because my old account on another platform was pretty much all TOH and Infinity Train, but I haven't talked too often about either here. I used to actually really hesitate to post about Infinity Train since I know most of y'all follow me for Ninjago, but I have always loved it.
hope the spam isn't too annoying </3 I just miss my favorite tv show of all time often
