#rustic wolf spider

@good-moon-rising submitted: found this cutie in Eastern PA in the US, I think it's a female tigrosa helluo, although I definitely could be wrong.

This is Trochosa rather than Tigrosa! Looks like a rustic wolf spider, Trochosa ruricola. Tigrosa helluo will have a thinner single line down the center of the cephalothorax, like this:

Spider captured in a pill bottle. The reflections on the first pic go crazy and the spider's stripe and fangs/jaws/pincers/whatever are cool.

Thanks for letting me know your location in your other submission! Looks like a rustic wolf spider. Hard to tell how big it would be compared to mealworms from these photos. I'd say younger smaller ones would likely be fine, but I'd only try to feed one at a time by putting it in front of her with a tweezers so you know she sees it and if she doesn't attempt to eat it within a few minutes, I'd take it out.

It is indeed a wolf! Looks like a rustic wolf, Trochosa ruricola. I’d need a better look at the pedipalps to say whether it’s male or female, though.

Hi friend! I found these nice friends on my way back home. I’ve named them Martin and Dolores respectively. Could you tell me what kind they are?

So the first one I cannot confidently ID since I can’t see the markings on the abdomen at all.  But based on the carapace markings and the look of the legs, my best guess would be a rustic wolf spider, Trochosa ruricola. But the second I’m fairly confident is a Mediterranean spiny false wolf spider, Zoropsis spinimana. Martin and Dolores are both beautiful, though, and I love them. Thank you for sharing! As always, submissions don’t count towards the one (1) nice bug per day.
