My favorite Holiday Special! Well, not like I have a lot, but I return to this Dusty Towne clip every year (and sometimes in July) because it’s one of the most amazing bits of TV comedy ever. 

I assume Catherine O’Hara’s character here was modeled on that bawdy broad, Rusty Warren, 1960s icon of cheeky sex comedy. And whilst digging through my recent Please Kill Me articles to post here, I noticed one of the other wise writers over there interviewed Rusty a couple years ago. Check it here!!

She is rarely spoken about or acknowledged in mainstream society, but I think I can safely say that anyone who's been a dedicated thrift store record digger knows exactly who #RustyWarren was. She not only was the QUEEN of intriguing album covers, but she CLEARLY sold millions of albums because I don't think I've ever flipped through a stack of records without seeing one. . I just found out this comedy pioneer passed away on May 25 at age 91, so it turns out, being liberated to joke about sex in public leads to a long life. .
