You know, I’ve been wondering that same thing. Amara took the immortal elixir and /then/ became the anchor so I don’t know if it’s ever been discussed?

Exactly. But see that's the only reason Tessa made her the anchor, because she was immortal. Had she been made the anchor when she was still human then when she'd died (of old age or otherwise), the other side would've disappeared.

Bonnie has been made the anchor when she's something constant, a ghost. So it makes sense that she would just continue to stay the same age and never die, because she's already dead.
