So I was scrolling through tumblr instead of studying for my exam Thursday as saw @le-poofe’s new Grillby design and was just COMPLETELY blown away by how gorgeous it was. I have studied le-poofe’s style before (above ;D) but is was I think a year ago at this point? And I realized I don’t think I’ve fully rendered a Grillby in several months 😧

So! Half a study (more of figuring out why I loved it so much [the like… ribbon? Quality?? If that makes sense?] and how it would work in my style [le-poofe uses a lot of beautiful clean line art but I both love painterly styles and just don’t have the patience at all for clean lineart I go bananas]) and half just a redraw to see some progress!

Original + a speedpaint (for fun + I know ai is a problem rn and I want 0 smoke)

Oh, and a higher contrast because ngl I draw on my iPad and I have my screen contrast REALLY high so when I was painting it, I was seeing a lot closer to this:
