Hi there froggie anon! I'm quite sorry if this one took a while I was busy with my works and stuff, I also apologize of this one is quite inaccurate

I stare at the time in my phone— it’s 6 am in the morning, birds are already awake and chirped their sweet tune as the sun rises up to the sky. I groaned as I rub my eyes and turning off my phone who’s battery is close to %5.
I opened my bedroom door and head to the bathroom to wash my face that looks like what a zombie would have… Maybe it was a bad idea to pull another all-nighter to read some fanfics from Ao3 especially to the fact that there’s a mass scheduled for today.
Without even changing from my sleeping attire, I went to the kitchen. The smell of cooked bacon and eggs filled my nostrils— my stomach was grumbling as I come closer and closer to the kitchen.
“Oh good morning, _____!!”
Sarvente said in a happy tone and her voice filled with energy despite of how early it is, I yawned in reply as I approach the cabinets and pulled out my favorite mug and putting it on the coffee machine. Once it was done, I took a sip of the warm coffee and hoped that the caffeine will take affect so that I won’t fall asleep later.
I observed the room for a bit and felt something odd like someone is watching me, ‘eh probably an effect of my lack of sleep and rest’— as I sat down on one of the chairs, a box of chocolates immediately came into my view.
I looked at the box of chocolates wide-eyed in surprise— ‘Oh how can I forget???’. My lips curled into a soft smile as I gladly accepted her gift for me to this ‘Day of Love’ while I panicked inside.
“Aww how thoughtful of you, Sarv! I’m so sorry that I didn’t really have any gifts to give you back! I forgot that it’s Valentine’s”
I apologized to her, clutching the heart-shaped box close to my chest while Sarvente only giggled at me. She then reassured me that it’s alright for her, she also said that as long as I stay on the right path, giving kindness and comfort to every person I interact with— that would be enough.
I nodded to her before putting the box of chocolates into the refrigerator so it won’t melt— I am planning to eat it later and share it with Ruv and Sarv after the mass— After I eat the breakfast that Sarv cooked, I fetched Ruv to wake him up and telling him to help us prepare the church.
We unlocked the church doors and opened it for the public to finally enter when they arrive. Sooner or later, the rows of pews will be filled with devoted people of all ages. I mostly like the old women who comes here, they’ve always been so nice.
And just as I predicted the church is now filled with people and there’s probably more coming. Me and Ruv stayed at the back of the church as Sarv starts the mass— we were watching the people that enters and watch out if anybody here is causing some trouble— I sat at the very last pew at the back and like always, Ruv is hiding in the dark corners of the church I mean he’s a criminal so of course he makes sure he won’t get caught.
In the middle of the mass, my eyes were about to give up as the caffeine earlier wasn’t really effective—as time goes by, it became more harder and harder to stay awake— as I was about to drift off to sleep again I felt someone tap my shoulder in which I immediately jolted back awake.
I turned around and saw that it was Ruv who tapped my shoulder, his eyes are still looking up at the people, quietly observing them. He glanced down at me then leaned down, close to my ear so people wouldn’t hear him as he mumbled. ‘Ok first of all, personal space’.
“You shouldn’t be sleeping at the mass unless you want Sarvente to be mad, have you taken enough sleep? You stayed up late again, did you?”
‘Second of all, none of your business’. His breath tickling my neck as I roll my eyes before I gently push his face away from my ear.
“Look, Ruv, if you want to tell me something, just say it”
I told him while turning my head back to the front and return my focus to the church mass and the people— knowing Ruv, he wouldn’t really care if I fall asleep in a mass or anywhere else unless he uses it as an excuse to talk to me and ask me about something, that’s usually how it goes… Unless he genuinely cares about my very broken sleep schedule right now— ‘how sweet of him’.
“Alright, do you want to plan a Valentine’s gift for Sarv? I’m not really a fan of these days so I don’t know much”
‘Well, this caught my interest’
“Oh? And why? You got a crush on her or something??”
I teased him with a chuckle as I turned my head to look at his face. His face gave an expression of annoyance, his brows furrowing as he only stared at me in silence before turning away.
“Guess I’ll just plan it alone”
He started walking back to his precious dark corner to probably go back observing the people but he instead walked to a hallway which made me immediately stood up from the pew and followed him, leaving the mass, it is already close to ending so I’m pretty sure Sarv won’t if I leave for a bit.
“Wait no- I’m just joking, I’m sorry!”
I ran across the hallway just to catch up to him. He stopped and turned to me with the same calm, unemotional, unbothered, expression when I stop in front of him, panting as I try to catch my breathe— I fixed my posture after I recover from running.
“Fine fine, I don’t have a gift for Sarv either so we both win in this one”
“We can start when the mass ends which is right…”
He then paused and waited for a bit, and so do I. After a few seconds, we then hear the bells ringing, a sign of the mass coming to an end.
It was a Sunday morning, Ruv sat on one of the chairs, eating cereal as he waits for the other two to wake up and head to the kitchen— when his bowl run out of cereal, he stood up and went to the cabinet to grab the cereal box to refill his bowl, he doesn’t know why but this cereal is his favorite breakfast.
“Oh Ruv you’re awake, it’s so early”
He heard Sarv enter the kitchen as he pours the cereal into his bowl— this is probably his fourth bowl of cereal but who cares— He greeted her with a good morning in which Sarv gladly returned. He then remembered something and went to the refrigerator, opening it and grabbing a heart-shaped box.
“Hey uh Sarv can I ask you something?”
Sarv turned to him while she grabs a pan to prepare breakfast— she saw the box in his hands which made a teasing grin appear on her face, knowing full well on who this box is for. Ruv only sighed in response while his face turned red, preparing for the teasing he’ll get later.
Before she can even finish, Ruv cut her off knowing that he’s the only one that can cut her off without Sarv feeling offended but he still has to watch his words since she still have boundaries that he respects.
“Please give it to them, and don’t tell them it’s me”
Sarv only giggled at Ruv’s actions when it comes to any topic about you and as a dear friend, she shall and will help him with his little crush.
After staying at the garden for a bit to relax and take a breathe, he headed back to the kitchen, he heard you and Sarv talking— he leaned close to the entrance and watched you two.
“Aww how thoughtful of you, Sarv! I’m so sorry that I didn’t really have any gifts to give you back! I forgot that it’s Valentine’s”
Seeing you accept his gift made his heart flutter, maybe it’s because you think the gift is from Sarv— ‘would you still accept it if you knew it’s from me?’ He thought as he stared at you with his eyes filled with love and desire, ‘would you accept my feelings? My heart is aching and you’re the reason for it…’ He watched you put back the box into the same refrigerator, where it was resting earlier. ‘It’s killing me’
He just want to scream I love you on top of his lungs, making the whole world shake along with the hells deep below, so loud that everyone, even whatever god from above would hear and let them know that you are the person he loves whole heartedly. He sighed and went to his room to go back to sleep for a bit, that sleep was soon interrupted by you, waking him up from his 1-minute slumber.
After discussing what gift you guys can get for Sarv, you went to the kitchen and grabbed some chocolates from the box that Sarv gave and put it in a plastic for me and Ruv to snack on while we find the things we decided to use as a gift.
When the clock strikes 1 pm, me and Ruv excused ourselves to Sarv and told her that we will be heading outside to hang out but in actuality we’re getting her a gift using our money… or if that’s what I assume.
We wasted no time and headed to the mall when Sarv let us go, I’m on my casual clothes while Ruv is more covered up since of course he’s a criminal, a high-bounty one, someone might recognize him through the posters.
We first head to the flower shop for of course flowers, Sarvente loves plants or else we won’t have that garden at the church— we were walking around the shop, looking for different kinds of flowers, specifically the ones that Sarv is very fond of, we can use those to make into a bouquet.
As I was looking at some colored roses, I notice a stand that contained many rose bouquets, I looked up to the sign on top of it— ‘For your girlfriends this Valentine’s day!!’ I read the sign to which I only scoffed in response.
‘Who says that boys can’t have a bouquet given to them too’
But then again... I wish someone will care enough to give me one, even if its just a single red rose but then again who would— in these days, it’s very rare for someone to give you something genuinely without expecting anything in return, it’s either a chance to touch your body or a yes when they ask for your hand that or something that they’ll keep asking for you to get for eternity.
I know that it’s always a basic manner to always give someone that did you good a favor but are they genuinely a good person if they only did it because they know that they’ll get something back for it? Do they really deserve it?— I sigh as I shook my head, snapping myself out of it and was about to walk away but then I saw a couple of girls approach the stand and then one of the girls pick up one of the bouquets.
“My boyfriend loves flowers, I’m sure he’ll appreciate this one”
She said while the others agreed and encouraged her to purchase it, some are even making some recommendations like maybe getting a teddy bear to go along with the bouquet while they’re little giggles obviously showed no sign of mockery or degrading the girl.
I slightly smiled at how sweet they looked and then continued to walk away— ‘maybe that’s not always the case’
After me and Ruv found the flowers needed, we headed to the counter and asked the cashier to make it into a bouquet, we paid for it and immediately left the store to head into the next one— the jewelry store.
The moment we arrived at the jewelry store, we split up and walked around the store to find the right jewelry for her. I decided to go to the earring section because I think earrings fit her and she can wear it any time without anyone noticing since her veil covers her rings— ‘maybe the one with the pink gem?’ I thought about it before my focus was caught by a man talking to someone in the ring section that is just beside the section where I’m in.
“You think she’ll say yes?”
It was two guys looking for a ring to propose to I guess one of the guy’s girlfriend. ‘How lucky…’ Yes how lucky they can be— envy soon clenched my heart, wishing that someone will love me the way I want to be loved and be with me but then again who would love me when I can’t love them the same way that they do— ‘am I that picky…’
In a world where there’s love in every corner, the cupids aiming their arrows and shooting everyone’s heart to make them fall for others in every second and yet… they seem to always miss me, I want it to hit me but it just…. breaks before it even touch me— is it because of how I look? how I act? Or maybe because I’m just that unlucky.
Not noticing how long have I been standing there as the clock ticks— someone’s voice immediately snapped me back into reality and I then turn to see Ruv standing behind me.
“Oh Ruv! I uhm- did you find the right jewelry to gift?”
He asked me with a concerned tone. I took a quick glance at where the two guys were standing but I only saw no one— ‘I guess they already left’ I thought before taking a deep breath to calm my heavy beating heart and wipe the single tear that I didn’t notice rolling down my cheek.
“Yes I am uhm let’s go and pay for it”
I was about to take out my wallet to get the money but then Ruv grabbed my wrist, making me look up to him in confusion before noticing a slight hint of mischief in his eyes— I know that look…
“Who said that we’re gonna pay for this necklace”
He opened his other hand, showing me a beautiful silver necklace with a pink and white gems decorating it. I would’ve been in awe of how shiny it is if I have no clue on what he’s planning but unfortunately I do. I crossed my arms against my chest— already forgetting the moment I had earlier.
“If you’re gonna steal something, don’t drag me into this, I’m not the kind of person that commits a crime”
‘I just committed a crime’
I thought as I try to catch my breathe, leaning against a wall in a dark alleyway to hide from the security guards that were chasing us— well their main priority is Ruv but I’m pretty sure they thought I’m part of this in which I do— I hope they didn’t catch my face or else my life will get harder and I don’t think I can handle anymore stress before I collapse to the ground and let nature take me back.
I looked at Ruv, also leaning against the wall but unlike me that looks like I just ran a marathon that lasts for 3 days, he didn’t even break a sweat. If he didn’t look like a damn giant, I probably would’ve choked the shit out of him.
I said in between my panting as I slid down to the floor, sitting down to relax my sore legs and wiping the sweat on my forehead. I then felt a towel get thrown on my face, making me flinch and take it off, looking at Ruv— I was about to scold him for throwing the towel at me but I instead stopped myself and just used it to wipe my sweat since I’m too exhausted for this.
He puts his hand into one of his pockets and pulled out something— I was too busy to notice him walking up to me and sitting beside me.
I looked at him while raising my brow in confusion before I notice him lifting his hand and showed me a pair of earrings. My eyes widening in surprise after I realized that he also stole this one— I was planning to scold him but he cut me off before I even say a single word.
My confusion returned again into my face and it seems like Ruv noticed it because he gently grabbed my hand, placing the earrings on my palm while I only look down at it— ‘…it’s shiny’
“But aren’t this day for couples and crushes, why are you giving this to me?”
Ruv internally face palmed himself at your obliviousness as you kept ranting on and asking him why. Unbeknownst to him, you were aware on what does this mean and is panicking inside.
‘I’m pretty sure that I’m misunderstanding something, it can’t be! He’s definitely not confessing to me is he!?’— multiple thoughts and excuses ran through your head as your mouth won’t stop moving and bombarding him with questions until he had enough and took back the earrings.
He then leaned close to me so I leaned back in response but he kept leaning close to me so I just closed my eyes, expecting his lip to clash into mine but I only felt the earrings get put on my ears.
“Who said that love is only about romance?”
I opened my eyes to see him far away from me, still sitting down on the concrete floor— staring down at the ground while brows furrowed in clear frustration, he scoffed at me before continuing what he said.
“We’re getting Sarv a gift right? We’re doing it because she’s our friend and we want to show her how much we appreciate her, right?”
“Thought what? That I have a crush on her?”
‘Idiot… it was your love that I yearn for but I’m too much of a coward to directly say that’
“It’s possible but no, I only see her as a friend, a good friend that deserves to be appreciated and I can say that you think the same too”— He paused for a bit and then continued— “and from what she told me back then, love comes in different forms and is not limited to only romantic, you should cherish your friends, family, and yourself the same way you cherish your chosen partner in life”
I only nodded, not wanting to talk anymore since it might set him off— to distract myself from the tension that grew after his statement, I fished out my phone out of my pocket, turning it on and opening the camera to look at how the earrings look on me but I instead took a long look at my face and observing each and every feature it has until my eyes landed on the earrings at my earlobes.
“I’m… very sorry if I upset you with what I said…”
He only hummed in response and leaned back onto the wall, the awkward silence and the pressuring tension not leaving the alleyway we’re in as the sunsets— ‘we didn’t even notice how long have we been like this’
Ruv felt bad, very bad. A heavy feeling of guilt on his chest as his hands clenched into fists inside his pockets— he didn’t want to sound mean when he told you that, he just wants you to understand and maybe, just maybe cheer you up.
The way that you look at the couples that walked by on the way to the mall— the way your eyes filled with envy and sadness when you see people buy from the stalls of Valentine’s gifts. You always have that kind of look in your eyes at every couple or even to a group of friends showing affection to each other— he always notice it when you’re outside the church.
Every time someone shows affection, you just wish that it was for you and Ruv knows. The original plan was for him to steal some gifts for both of you alone but he changed it back when he was listening to the conversation you and Sarv were having earlier morning and decided to drag you along and well… spend some time with you.
He spoke up, finally breaking the silence as the sky turned dark and the stars appear to decorate the void above us.
“I’m sorry if I sounded a bit… mean and also dragging into this, I could’ve done this myself but…”
He trailed off for a bit, he wants to confess but when he was about to say the 3 magical words, it always felt like he was being held at a gun point and the gun holder is none other than you, the bullet being the hurtful rejection preparing itself to engrave deep into his skull— he understands that he should take a no for an answer, he’s prepared but he knows that there’s a high possibility for the confession to leave a scar in the friendship you two made— making it uncomfortable for you and him.
He can take a rejection even if it’s the most painful thing he’ll ever feel, he’ll live but losing another person he cares for? Oh hell no!
“Nothing… I’m still sorry, I mean it”
After making sure that no one is around, we walked out of the alleyway and started making our way back to the church. Of course, Sarv scolded us for returning so late but it was alright when we showed her the gifts that we got for her and told her the reason why we’re so late.
She’s still mad at us for worrying her— to calm herself, she just went to sleep but not before telling both me and Ruv that there’s food prepared for us in the kitchen so we both sat down and dug in the food she made for us. Half way through the meal, I stopped eating and looked at Ruv.
I called him out, catching his attention as he stopped chewing the food and looked back at me. A soft smile on my face.
“Thank you for today, Happy Valentine’s”
I don’t have a gift sadly but based on the way his eyes softened when I said that… I think that was enough.
