so up until now i've been kinda confused about fics mentioning the reds and blues having neural implants since i missed that in s12 carolina mentions that all freelancer personnel have them. now i'm curious as to what they all thought/were told the neural implants did if they thought church was just a ghost possessing them. the idea of freelancer putting neural implants into everyone, even the sim troopers is fascinating because why. why would you need to do that. that seems like an awful lot of expensive surgeries and tech. that had me thinking about jimmy, who doesn't have an implant until one is forcibly drilled into his skull. If he was straight out of basic, why not just put him through the implantation like every other incoming sim trooper? Unless he wasn't straight out of basic, and had already been a blue sim trooper for some time, and "all freelancer personnel" actually means "freelancer personnel that will come into contact with an AI." So now I'm having nefarious little plots popping up in my head as to what, exactly, the director was planning to do with those implants, since the reds and blues were never supposed to get AIs. I assume that primarily, they were a way to ensure that the alpha would always have a body to take over in case jimmy was killed. Did they do anything else, besides just sit there? Were they a failsafe method, in the event that somebody figured out what was really going on? Did they tamper with memories? hmmmm...

Damn if I was a little better with meta I’d really love to do a whole right up about Sharkface and Temple’s similarities to Zero himself.

The way they all were wronged and had every right to be angry but then start taking things just a tad bit too far.

And while Zero’s backstory is still mostly unknown at this write up.

I also find it so GOOD that he acts as if everything he does is so calculated. That he knows everything.

But then when it comes to his goal he’s just “The Ultimate Power” Fucker knows jack shit about what he’s grabbing And I  am LIVING for it.

Grif’s Volleyball Family

“Are we done yet? I’ve got some volleyballs to spike in this fucking volcano.” 

Grif feels better now that he’s back with his huge annoying family (AND KAI) and he’s trying to destroy the evidence that he missed them. 

-Oh wait, Grif can’t get rid of his volleyball family. They still have to be on Locus’s ship! 

As I’m sure Grif made Locus promise he would take care of them and keep them safe, Locus is probably on his way back to return them to Grif and everyone will see them. :D

[RvB 15.03] On Unicorn Guy

I’m probably not the first person to say this, but if I had to place a bet on Unicorn Guy being an established character, it’d be Santa, the alien AI guarding the temples on Chorus.

I’ve seen some speculation that Unicorn might be Sangheili, but his armor’s human, and humans and Sangheili just don’t have the same physiology that way. But if Unicorn is an AI, which some people have posited also, then his armor model doesn’t matter, species-wise.

The voice distortion isn’t exactly the same, but it certainly bears more similarity to Santa than it does to say, Locus, or any other other established character living or dead. It makes sense that Santa would be looking for Tucker, specifically, since the sword makes Tucker special. And Unicorn’s words about being no one except to the ones he seeks to serve makes a lot of sense for an AI construct with a specific purpose, and would be much more interesting in that context than as another “I live to follow orders” human character in the vein of Locus.

If the Reds and Blues have been missing from Chorus since they boarded the Staff of Charon, and the UNSC has been blockading the planet, then perhaps an AI was the only person who could get offworld, sent in a last-ditch effort to find out what happened to Chorus’s heroes.

Plus, he does have a red and black color scheme and we all love that color scheme shit.

Anyway, that’s where my money is.

I’m really still hoping Temple is Agent Georgia, based on nothing aside from that we met Georgia and he was a dick. It shouldn’t be anyone we haven’t met before, since they’ve been throwing so many new characters around. It should be someone who has at least cameo’d before. There was that extra scene of him out in space, but they never showed him dying. He’s a salt bucket. Extremely competitive since he was part of the ‘mean girl’ group in the Triplets episodes. It would be perfect.

Simmons asks Simmons about Grif.

Simmons: “What about your Grif?” Gene: “Oh, Griff? Man, I almost forgot about that guy. He was so lazy and useless. Not bad taste in pop culture though. He got hit by a tank years ago.” Simmons: “Oh my god.” Gene: “Yeah, Surge was running a cyborg program at the time, so we could have made him a cyborg, but he said Griff wasn’t a good candidate and he’s the leader so...” Simmons: “So you just let Grif die? How could you? Grif is important! You should have done anything to save him!”

That would be SO good. Simmons has been getting so much love, I actually really missed him this week. Him detectiving would be so great. Especially since he would creep himself out before he even found the horror show.  --oh my god, Simmons and Caboose SLEUTHING TOGETHER.
