When the RWBY volume 8 finale is tomorrow morning but you have stuff to do

Doesn't Robyn like smile to herself two seconds after. Yeah she starts shocked but she's also happy about it.

I just screenshotted these:

And yeah? I originally thought of that second look as more of a contemplative face, especially because it's so quick. But you could interpret it as a smile.

I don't think I'd say she's outright happy about Watts being hurt, though. Maybe happy about not being on the firing line?

That being said, this is her face after she sees a prisoner leaving the cells. She's just learnt that a) Prisoners can and WILL be removed from cells and b) HOW the cells are opened.

...and the next time we see her (more or less) she's goding Harriet into opening her cell door.

I'd argue that's less of a I'm happy my enemy is suffering look, and more of an I have a plan look.

I get some people being angry. I won’t take that away from them. I just want to share my opinion on what happened on RWBY in Chapter 12 and maybe giving a little perspective:

The first time CRWBY avoided the ‘Bury your gays’ trope, they didn’t let a pilot say a line that would make him a gay man with a family back in Atlas before he died a few minutes later. Clover dying is heartbreaking, but it was also never outright comfirmed that he was gay. He flirted with Qrow, sure. But nothing beyond a flirty friendship was set up between those two. From what I gather, Qrow’s story arc CRWBY wants to tell is tied to Tyrian. They now have a rivalry set up that will make future encounters much more intense. And it will test how willing Qrow is to stick to his decision to not drink alcohol.

And sure, if this was the role Clover filled, CRWBY could have make a female character fill this role to sidestep this. But they didn’t. Because I don’t know if you realise this, but right now we have canon confirmation that Qrow is Bi. This interactions still meant something. And I have no doubt that Qrow will get a happy ending. Because if all the death flags for him would be true, they let two very good oppotunities go to kill him off.

And me, as someone who would have loved them as a couple, always was a little hesitant about their semblances. Because I want Qrow to be able to live happy with it and not rely on someone else to counter it. Right now, I will wait what the future brings for Qrow and if he will get feelings for another man in the future. If that happens, it would make this death mean something.

Also, please remember that this is my opinion on what happened on the show I love. Don’t take this post to dismiss people angry because they felt represented. They are allowed to be sad and angry. I won’t use a ship tag for this because this post doesn’t belong there.
