簡単にご説明させていただくと...

ここは、2017年に12月にソーホーにオープンした、「Roman and Williams GUILD (ローマン & ウィリアムズ・ギルド)」。

2002年に設立し、ACE Hotel (エース・ホテル)や、ハイラインの The Standard Hotel (ザ・スタンダード・ホテル)のバー、Facebook のオフィスの社員食堂などのインテリア・デザインを手がけた、デザイン・スタジオの Roman & Williams (ローマン & ウィリアムズ)の初のリテールショップとなる。

オーナー夫妻である、Robin Standefer (ロビン・スタンデファー)と、Stephen Alesch (スティーブン・アレッシュ)は、もともとは映画のセット・デザイナーとして活躍しており、ファッション・コメディ映画の『Zoolander (ズーランダー)』のセット・デザインを担当したことで、Ben Stiller (ベン・スティラー)や、Kate Hudson (ケイト・ハドソン)などのセレブリティを顧客に持つほどの人気インテリア・デザイナーとなった。

7,000 スクエアフィート (約650㎡)ある天井の高いスペース は、NY のライフスタイルをもっと豊かにし、居心地のいい空間を提供することをコンセプトとし、エンタープライズとパッションのある彼らのスタイルを共有できる場所として誕生した。

メインは、ファニチャーショップとなっているが、オーナーのファインディング・コレクションや、アンティークなども取り扱っている。

また、出版会社の Phaidon (ファイドン)によるブックストア兼ライブラリー、フレンチ・シェフの Marie-Aude Rose (マリーオード・ローズ)がディレクションするカフェ、La Mercerie (ラ・マーシェリー)、人気フローリストの Emily Thompson (エミリー・トンプソン)のフラワーショップが併設されており、流行のショップ・スタイルというよりは、イマジネーションやインスピレーションが広がる空間といった印象が強い。

商品のセレクションはクオリティが高く、もちろん高級なものが多いのだが、インテリアのプロが培ってきた、センスとクリエイティビティの世界に触れられる貴重なスポットとして今最も注目されているストアのひとつとなっている。
