It isn't a pairing since this is intended as platonic and what have you, but "mourn" and Pikachu. >B]
Send me a "Mourn" and I'll write a drabble about one character mourning the death of the other. loyalpika.
( No, you were supposed to outlive me, I was supposed to protect you, you can’t be dead, please don’t be DEAD ).
“Ash, Ash.” He dimly heard a voice call his name, but all he could focus on was the STONE in his arms ( no, not stone, never just stone, he had a life, they were together for SIX YEARS, this couldn’t be where it ended, not like this ), so COLD and HARD, and he couldn’t help but remember the warmth and soft fur that had just been in his arms in what felt like years ago.
( WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME HE TOLD PIKACHU THAT HE LOVED HIM? WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME HE MADE PIKACHU HAPPY? HE COULDN’T REMEMBER, AS IF ALL THE MEMORIES WERE DIMMING ALONG WITH HIS HEART, WHICH WAS TEARING IN TWO ).
He felt a hand on his shoulder, and he pulled away, cuddling the still statue close to his chest. He wasn’t going to let anyone separate them, not now, not EVER. He failed his best friend, failed to keep him safe, and now he could only wish that human tears could work as well as POKéMON tears --.
Without letting go of Pikachu, he released his POKéMON, scattered hope bringing a smile on his face ( a PAINFUL smile ) even as tears continued to leak from his eyes.
“You guys can help, right? You guys can cry and stop the petrification, right? Just like in New Island when I was dead?” He heard a faint choke that could only come from a sob dimly but ignored it, so focused on his POKéMON, and his voice grew frantic. “You can save him, right? Please tell me you can save him, please, please tell me you can SAVE him...”
His voice cracked, and he broke into sobs that seemed to wrench out of him in stuttered gasps. He couldn’t see the sad looks on his POKéMONs’ faces, nor could he see their tears, but he somehow already knew how futile it would be.
POKéMON tears weren’t going to save the day this time, and his best friend was going to be stone for the rest of Ash’s life.
