@rxry — before althea had even reached the door, she’d already tried talking herself into marching away, getting back into her car, and going home at least two times. but try as she might, she knew she that needed to do this; that she needed to thank him. otherwise, all that effort she had put into tracking his address down would have been for nothing and the stubborn blonde wasn’t about to let all that time and energy spent sleuthing and pleading to her superiors go to waste because of some nerves. with a heavy sigh and quick sweep of her sunny locks, she anxiously rapped at the front door. ❛ don’t be home, don’t be home, don’t be home, ❜ she murmured to herself, knuckles growing white as she gripped at the platter of sweets tucked carefully within her other hand.
U.S. tour blog day 7: 8/6/2012, Fort Collins, CO
I must have lost around 5 pounds in water weight the night before. At the time it felt like the hottest environment I've ever had to sleep in. Maybe having a huge cat on my legs didn't help either. In reality, it was probably fine. Before leaving Denver, I slapped a sticker on a dumpster that my pal Scott Pemble gave me in Idaho a few months ago. He cuts up and layers stickers into faces and sometimes you will see them in the most unexpected places around this country. I've seen them in San Francisco, Seattle, guitar amps, and so on. It's kind of the calling card for anyone who's stayed or played at his house in Caldwell, ID, The Manor. It's a really nice place with amazing accommodations: beds, a miniramp to skate, food, the works. Even Vivian Girls have played there. I encourage you all to look him up and go through on tour if you want to meet some real down-to-earth kids. Halfway to Fort Collins is the Benson Sculpture Garden in Loveland, CO. It has well over a hundred sculptures on a large plot of land around a lake. Abstract, modern, traditional, animals, a diverse mix. It was raining a little, but I saw just about every piece on display and didn't take many pictures. Fort Collins has been a very welcoming place to me for the last few years thanks to Matthew Sage. He does a ton of projects/bands like RxRy, Kick Majestic, the Patient Sounds label and more. We relate a lot and I'm glad there's people like him doing what they do because they love it and don't let anything get in the way. He played a solo set at GNU, along with my buddy Sara Century from Denver, Eric from Belgium and I think the other band canceled. I don't have pictures to jog my memory. Matthew Sage in my one picture from Fort Collins: GNU is always a totally different environment every time I play there. Brandton is really working at it. There's a punk bar called Surfside 7 around the corner and it's become a ritual to grab a slice of pizza before the night's over. Matt and I just stayed up talking about the good and bad, our failures and little victories for a while, then I needed to get some sleep before the second longest drive of tour. I got a metal pin with a mountain that says "Colorado" at a gift shop downtown and am still unsure of what to put it on. It's really just a little reminder of one of my favorite states.
RxRy - 03 Tide Pool (lo hi)
This sounds so massive.
I love it. Makes me want to try to make more drowning and passive electronic songs.
