“Ow!” Gon yelps, whimpering while holding his hand. There was now a red mark on his pale hand, something Gon hoped wouldn’t bruise.
“That was too harsh, Danchou! If you didn’t want me to touch something, you could have said so!” The boy complained, shaking his hand before looking up at the man who swatted him. It was obvious that Chrollo was very protective over this object - the book. Gon had always seen the leader carry it around, so it was a surprise when the other put it down and left it on its own for a moment.
Gon never understood what was so important about it. He was learning whatNen was - the other members of his group were helping to coach their youngest member - but even he couldn’t understand what a powerful man like Chrollo would be doing with this book in his hands whenever they went out to steal, or kill others. It was very confusing to him.
However, Chrollo had appeared way too quickly when it was obvious Gon was just about to open the book and learn its secrets. He knew only a little about how other objects could be used to channel Nen, and they were mostly weapons. The power this book held was something he was curious bout, and something he didn’t realize was important enough to be protected with all costs. The boy had never figured out how Chrollo’s Nen worked, he only knew the leader had it, and now, he needed to know.
“Danchou…why can’t I touch this book?”
Words, he could have used those instead of violence, but sometimes wordlessly expressing his displeasure brought out better results. No matter the fact Gon happened to be a mere twelve-year-old child, but that child had more strength that one would expect from the first glance. “Don’t touch the book, is that good enough?” Words were spoken a bit too late, but it couldn’t hurt to make it more clear for Gon to understand what to not touch without permission.
With the book on his right hand, he opened it and started to flip through the pages while at times looking over to Gon. A tiny little Spider, that didn’t know the true meaning of the book he held, the Bandit’s Secret. “Curious, huh?” He spoke out the word with slight amusement as he closed up the book in his hand and looked over at the boy. “I could say it’s my favorite.” The most important book in his life, because it was part of his Nen and every nen ability he had stolen was kept within the pages.
“It’s called the Bandit’s Secret.” After he spoke out the words, the book disappeared from his hand. He had merely checked that none of his stolen abilities old users haven’t died because you never knew when peoples lives might end. “And what it does, I’m not telling you, yet.” The mere word ‘does’ would hint that the book was special and capable of more than being reading material.
“You need to be more patient, Gon.” He knew they were only words and making a young boy stay still and wait for long didn’t always work.
