Sound artist Ryan Campos has created this beautiful composition inspired by my painting “Bird Song” which I’m excited to share.

When he expressed interest in collaborating in some way, I mentioned that I had this piece from my “Sense Memory” show that was explicitly about sound, specifically how the songs of mockingbirds trigger feelings of nostalgia in me and remind me of warm, lazy days and taking naps during childhood.

Ryan did some field recordings and composed this piece, which to me feels like being in a dream. He says it sounds best with headphones in the woods, and I wish there was a misty forest nearby that I could walk around in to really get the full effect!

Thanks to Ryan for a fun collaboration and for taking the time to create something new and amazing!

Jan Swinburne - Consensual Enigmas (original mix)

Jan Swinburne's 'Consensual Enigmas' began as an art video inspired by the life and paintings of Francis Bacon. Through invitation, the work soon developed into a remix project of corresponding video iterations with audio track remixes by Ryan Campos, Marco Fierro and Philippe Gerber/JOHN 3:16, each lending their own unique voice to the spare original.
