There were some lovely insights that I’m sure a lot of calligraphy enthusiasts are aware of.
Some things should be kept alive. I was a mediocre-to-near-failing student in design school because I didn’t give two shits about convenience, mass-production, making money, and therefore didn’t think much of typography and layout. If I could have learned in this form and the motive was different, I would have paid a lot more attention. I would choose meticulous and thoughtful one-offs to mass production any day.
Fair enough now that I’m not a designer and am learning how to tattoo.
