I have decided to organize an art benefit for Howl’s upcoming fifth anniversary! I wanted to do something special for Empires, especially since I felt five years was an important milestone. I felt this would make it all come full-circle, because they gave us something (Howl, everything that followed) and we get the opportunity give back for however it is that we have each enjoyed and experienced the band). The art will be provided by the fans, and all the money will go to the band.
What you can contribute: prints, drawings, paintings, sketches, mixed media, poems (that would be framed),lyric art, portraits, jewelry and accessories. This list is in no way everything — if you have an idea or a skill you think you can use, by all means let me know and perhaps I can help you.
The contributions should be Empires-inspired, and preferably related to Howl or the Howl time period (2007-2009), since Howl inspired this benefit (but of course, I’m not going to reject anything!).
I am planning to spend the rest of the month finalizing the contributors and letting the artists work on their pieces/decide what they would like to contribute. I’m planning to have the benefit run on Etsy during the whole month of May.
