Why I Work at ConsumerBell: Ryan Mollenhauer
Ryan is our new guy. He’s either that or our “hit man.” We call him that because Ryan simply does what needs to get done. We won’t hint that he dabbles in illegal activities, but he might just do it if we asked him to. As a new creative coordinator, we rely on his ingenuity, humor, tech talent and especially his motivation. “Coming on board involved moving from Seattle to New York City which has been one of the most thrilling experiences of my life,” says Ryan. “It’s a big change but the awesome ConsumerBell team has made it really easy and a lot of fun.” D’awww, Ryan, you’re making us blush. From the suburbs of the East Bay in San Francisco to the bustle of NYC, Ryan made quite the move from his childhood roots. “It was one of those ideal childhoods full of Little League games, block parties and Disneyland vacations. It was great as a kid, but I got bored of suburban life as I got older.” Ryan graduated from Humboldt State University in 2008 with a degree in journalism. You know we’re all about keeping it in the Humboldt family, but we would have hired him even if he had gone to another school. Why? Ryan is part site-master, part sales, part writer and no-nonsense. At least most of the time. We have him staying on top of recall news and updating our Marketplace, something vital to our mission. We love Ryan because he’s a thinker. He sees problems before they happen; that’s not just helpful, it’s essential. We asked him where he normally is on Saturday afternoons. So he broke it down for us by weather. “If it’s sunny - at a park or hiking a trail. If it’s cloudy - at the cinema with my wife. If it’s raining - at home with a video game controller and a pizza.” Ayo! So what five things can Ryan not live without?
My family
Trees
Video games
Chocolate-covered pretzels
Star Wars
We love Ryan and we hope you do, too. Tell us what resonates with you in the comments. May the force be with you.
