Thank you for the tag, @tc-doherty! I appreciate you so much!
Here is my favorite exchange from the scene I just finished working on, from book one of the Paragon series, Fire in My Veins:
Nate: "I at least want to see what it's about. Will you go with me?" Reese: "You want me to go with you to some mysterious address where we'll find god knows what after you were solicited by some random stranger while you were at work?" Nate: "Yeah, pretty much." Reese: "Man, this might be the whitest shit you've ever pulled. Sounds like the plot of a horror movie where the black guy dies first." [Nate laughs and shrugs.] Nate: "You got me on that one."

I met Twin Paranormal! Sorry I’m ugly but the boys are adorable
Happy STS Valentine's Day edition!
How do your OCs say 'I love you' without saying it out loud?
Such a cute question for the holiday, thank you so much!!!!
Some of these are really easy, and some of them are really hard lol. Here's my best answers!
Nate: Listening, understanding, and making people comfortable
Reese: Offering to help with some kind of project/build something for others
Kay: Painting something for them :)
Shaun: Taking care of someone, especially if they are sick/injured
Matt: Spending time together
Nic: Sharing space/existing together
Sky: Trying something new/letting someone else pick the activity
Happy STS! What weird things are your OCs obsessed with? Does that obsession change or has your OC been a fan of this one thing their entire life?
This is one that I can do rapid fire :) thank you so much and happy belated STS to you! (I think this was even from last week, whoops)
Anyway! Things the team is obsessed with:
Nate, Shaun, and Matt: Music, especially punk/hardcore, all since they were fairly young, like anywhere from 11-13 years old
Reese: Just like... the concept of how things work. Anything, really. It's what got him interested in science. He's been like that for as long as he can remember.
Kay: Pokemon :) she loves tiny little creatures with cool powers! Idk what her first generation would have been, I'd have to do some research, but definitely since she was a kid lol
Sky: Philadelphia sports. Since she was old enough to watch and comprehend the basics.
Nic: Her dad's research. Since she was old enough understand it (way younger than you would guess lol)
Hey Zac, happy Blorbo Blursday! I'm curious: what's your most loved OC that you think will be (or is) also the most underrated one? The one you think people will skip over or miss but you're absolutely frothing about? Tell me about them?
If you don't have an OC, tell me about an underrated character from something you're a fan of!
Hey, Fen! Happy Blorbo Blursday!
I love this question because I have thought about this a lot. I think my character's might be destined to fall into the roles that I am supposed to be sort of criticizing/satirizing.
I tried my best to sort of purposefully design Nate with Main Character Energy. He is the leader, the star, the one that keeps things together and brings the best out in everyone. However, the whole point of his character is that this is Not His Story. He is important and he helps the other characters in a lot of ways, but he is not The Focus.
Reese is supposed to start the series being in the background, off to the side. He is set up to seem like Nate's best friend who kind of gives him advice and plays a supporting role, but is not in the center of everything. The idea being that later in the series, he is going to have to step up and take Nate's place because this Is His Story, it's about him and Sky and Kay and Shaun and Matt and Nic. He will become the Leader and the Main Character against his will.
Now, with that being said, the thing that I am worried about is that while Reese will be purposefully off to the side in the first book, I fear that Nate will overshadow him and people will get attached to him early and then be disappointed that he's not as involved later. Which I get because I also love him and I am also very attached, but the point I'm trying to make is that it ain't about him! It's about literally everyone else!
Obviously this is all hypothetical because I haven't finished the book yet, but I feel like this happens in media all the time XD
🎉 Happy Blorbo Blursday 🎉
What's the biggest regret your OC(s) have?
What's their favorite thing to do in their free time?
Do they have any pets?
Ohhhhhhhh these are all such good questions. Perfect for Blursday. Thank you so much!!!! XD
What's the biggest regret your OC(s) have?
Hm. I'm struggling with this one, so I'm going to stick with one character, pre-canon answer only. Nate's biggest regrets are like a five (give or take) way tie between every time he accidentally used his element to hurt someone. It is his main motivation for being so careful with his element all the time.
I realized while answering this that every other character goes through their biggest regret in book 1, but Nate starts the series with his XD
What's their favorite thing to do in their free time?
Nate: Listen to music.
Reese: Work on his projects in his workshop.
Nic: Research and experiments.
Shaun: Practice his bass guitar.
Matt: Practice his electric guitar.
Sky: Watch/play sports.
Kay: Draw/paint.
Do they have any pets?
When they were kids, some of them did!
Nate grew up with a small dog and then when he was in college his family adopted a shadow mythic Huskey (animal with elemental powers).
Reese grew up with several animals. Two cats and one dog that his parents slowly adopted over time :)
Kay, Sky, and Shaun never really did because they grew up in the city and didn't live in pet friendly apartments/houses. Matt never did because his family moved too much. And Nic never did because she just didn't want one. Even as a child lol.
