uther asks arthur how he can trust a man that has lied to him and like...that's arthur's entire story. he trusts merlin over and over and over again, even when maybe he shouldn't or there are so many reasons thrown into his face trying to convince him not to, but he does he does he does. and merlin lies to him in small and big ways, always for him, doing the thing that he hates and that hurts him the most because it's for arthur, this man who trusts merlin so much, and it's, idk something something about arthur completely trusting the one man who lies to him and it's so complex and so easy and there's just something MORE than black and white truth here that shatters all barriers and connects these two men together so strongly
