Meeting #01
My scheduled meeting with Ryan Locke went ahead as planned on Monday. (14/9/15) I discussed my initial idea briefly and I'm almost certain that my initial idea will not be coming to fruition. However, I was advised that I could still display the sketches that I had done in my upcoming presentation as work that I did, but no longer has any significance. Ryan also recommended a book for me to purchase, which I have now ordered, along with five other books that I believe will aid me in my studies. I was advised by Ryan that the book he recommended to me, titled "The Thames & Hudson Dictionary of Graphic Design and Designers" is a must-have for any Graphic Designer, and although he did not say it himself, he did insinuate that this book would be my lifeline and possibly like a Bible to me and aid me in more than just my creating. During the meeting, Ryan talked me through the upcoming year and explained how things work this year, which made things so much clearer for me, and now I have much more of a clear idea of what I should be doing at this moment in time, although, I'm still not 100% clear, but I was informed that this is to be expected at this time. I now plan on putting some of Ryan's advice into action in some shape or form, which will consist of me purchasing two magazines and taking a note of all the logos that are contained inside. Along with this, I also plan to get more informed with typography and Adobe Illustrator (as my skills with Adobe Illustrator are very poor and somewhat non-existent), as both are a must in my chosen field and subject area.
