Post - Trip Thoughts (Team India)

As your friendly neighbourhood ASB Quote man, I thought i would open up with a quote that is very relevant to my experience on this Trip.

Living with a group of varying personalities in an unfamiliar country for a whole month confined only to a small living quarters with only the basic necessities forces you to adapt. With this adaptability comes growth and this is what this trip has been for me. It has been one of learning and growth. If you stay rigid and close yourself off you prevent yourself from enjoying the greatness that the world has to offer. I have been exposed to so many new and different things that it has expanded my worldview and has left me a new and better person.

On this trip I had my first cold shower as I have always been privileged enough to have access to hot water. Our restriction on water use made me realize how good I have it back home. I used to be afraid of insects but having to deal with so many of them and so often, I quickly got over that fear. I went from the guy who broke his table because he was afraid of spiders to being the one that would be taking them out of the living quarters for the other team members. I have at times been insensitive and inconsiderate towards others but found myself learning the errors of my ways and adjusting myself during this trip. Everyone operates differently in life, for me going into this trip I was an undisciplined immature teenager but coming out of it I am more mature in my thought and behavior and most of all I find myself a disciplined young man. These are only the small things that I write of, the deeper experience is one that you cannot easily describe and have to experience in person.

The ASB experience is one of the defining experiences of my life. I am glad that I applied to be a part of the team and grateful that I was accepted.
