TF2 Screenshots from my best game as Engineer and my Best game as Spy
This first game here took place in August of 2018, on cp_5gorge. Casual mode. I backfilled into the game during round one right before it ended so I didn't get to do much. Round 2 is where I actually got to play and uh... it was a hell of a round. I spent the ENTIRE round as Engineer, mostly playing with the Eureka Effect. I swapped my primary and secondary weapons quite a bit. For primaries I used the Rescue Ranger and stock Shotgun interchangeably, and for secondaries I swapped between the Pistol, Wrangler and Short Circuit when the situation called for it.
The game lasted for 3 hours. No I am not kidding xD. most of that time was spent with a lot of back and forth. My team kept hold of the Middle Point for most of it, and the flow went something like this: we capped Mid, tried to push for the Red side's second point. We would cap but be pushed back, only for Red to cap it back. This would go on for most of the round, with the odd occaision where a Red Spy or a Red Scout would cap Mid and be immediately bombarded with my entire team.
This whole process was most of the game, but what really won this game was my teleporters (which is where most of my points came from). See, I kept my Dispenser and Sentry well placed (I had a lot of players on the other team swearing at me for how much of a wall I was xD) but because I did so much upkeep on my teleporters, I kept a steady supply of Teammates coming in. This meant that any time I would get ambushed by a Spy, there was at least one or two other players that would demolish said spy a moment later. It was actually pretty rare that my sentry went down because my teammates kept most pushes from getting far enough in TO take it down.
During the last 10 minutes, my team finally had enough players at the frontline at once (and an Ubercharge) that I felt safe enough to move my sentry up, and we finally managed to cap and hold the second point on Red's side. It took a lot of rebuilt sentry guns, dispensers and another ubercharge to finally push in and cap the last point.
To this day, I have yet to hit a peak that high as Engineer xD
This second game is much more recent, having taken place yesterday, February 19th 2020, on Uncletopia's 3rd Dallas server. The screenshot above is after the first round on pl_borneo, which lasted about 10-ish minutes. I spent the whole round playing a spy with most of the "The Man of Honor" set (The Enforcer [Primary Weapon], The Big Earner [Melee], and the Casa Nostra Cap [Hat], though the hat is less relevant.) I spent most of the round with the stock Invis Watch, with a brief stint using the Dead Ringer at the choke area just past the first checkpoint. It was one hell of a rush, and I even managed to get some of my first real chain stabs! Considering the Big Earner's speed boost, I was really having a blast! I backstabbed snipers, heavies, demomen, soldiers, a pyro or two. I even managed to get a medic a few times, right before an uber push! I even got complements from teammates :D
So uh... why did I post these together? Thing is, I have a much easier time playing Engineer compared to Spy. There's a reason Medic and Engineer are my two most played classes: I just have an easier time playing those two classes. I'm at my best as a player when I can support my team.
Now compare that to my two LEAST played classes: Sniper and Spy. I'll admit, it took me until I got my gaming rig built two years ago before I finally felt comfortable trying to improve with either of those classes. Mostly because I finally had a stable framerate xD
So when I got to the end of this round and I managed to hit the top of the scoreboard with, 2 dominations to top it off? That felt GOOD. Especially since I struggle with Spy so much. I'm so happy to FINALLY have gotten to grips with the Spy. All I need now is to have an equally good game as Sniper and I will have, for the most part, rounded out my skills with each class to being generally decent.
