things i realized like... super late into my natural hair journey

lol i should've treated my depression wayyyy sooner lmao

you can neglect yourself and your hair without hating it or yourself btw. you still need to address neglect though

being a lazy natural isn't a flex when it's a result of self-harm/neglect

there is nothing that will be cheap enough for me as a penny pincher hair option-wise... went from forking over $360 every few months for braids to moaning abt my deep conditioner mask costing $4 for like 6 oz

there really is nothing you can do about that awkward stage immediately past the TWA hair length and that's okay :) i survived

it feels good to get past the stage where if my braids were old i felt down on myself...

you can teach an old dog new tricks (learned how to do my own hair at the grown age of 20/21)

if you are living your hair will grow like omg i can't believe i believed that it was just natural for your hair to stay at one length all life or barely grow... having braids constantly and not maintaining them broke my hair off like crazy bc my hair growth rate at times is above average. which makes sense w my diet/health maintenance.

it is YOUR head don't let any sort of wig/heat/damage/braids police make you feel like it's not.

literally do not gaf abt what anyone else thinks especially if they're self hating africans if it looks like you played in your head girl it's fashion, also i support playing in your own head i'm a lover of fun
