Tuesday 24 August 2024; 20:45 Diamond Territory; Mystic Stones
Fitted LEA uniform rumpled and smelling distinctly of cigarettes, Butch was beaming as he and his partner-of-the-day rode their brown division-provided stallions towards Mystic Stones. As a noble officer of the Diamond Law Enforcement Agency and as a member of the Yoon family, hearing of the break-in at the Yoon-owned mana crystal business should not have brought a smile to the man’s lips.... but it absolutely did.
Hoping the criminal had noticed they’d tripped the silent alarm, the Alchemist was slightly disappointed when, upon his slow dismount from his own horse, he already heard the distinct sounds of a fight coming from inside the shop. With a heavy sigh, Butch unhurriedly tied his, and his over-eager partner’s, horses to one of the posts outside. The shouting grew closer to the front of the shop and looking into the window, the youngest Yoon snorted in amusement as he saw flames begin to lick several walls and display cases.
Butch reached his hand through the pane of broken glass in the shop’s front door and let himself in. Paying no mind to the two men grappling on the tiled floor, the Enforcer took out a cigarette and lit it in the blaze currently engulfing the wooden front desk.
“YOON! What the FUCK are you gonna help me?!”
Glancing over to see his partner had successfully wrestled himself on top of the would-be thief and was beginning to bind his hands, Butch sighed. “You literally already arrested him, what do you want me to do about it?” he asked with a lifted eyebrow, his voice raised to be heard over the crackle of Yoon money burning to the ground. A beautiful sound, truly, it was a shame he had to speak over it. Taking a drag from his cigarette, he somehow managed to look bored as he stood near the front door of the smoldering shop.
“Gods forgive me but you’re a fucking prick,” his partner grumped as he drug the fire elementalist past Butch and out onto the street. Butch, chuckling, followed the pair out. The other officer looked at him incredulously, “Isn’t this your family’s shop? Aren’t you gonna try to put the fire out?”
Staring blankly at the other man, Butch took a long drag from his cigarette, backlit by the flames and smoke of his ‘family business’. “Buddy, which one of us is the fucking water elementalist? It sure as shit ain’t me, the fuck do you want me to do about it?”
The partner scowled, shoving the bound prisoner into Butch as he rolled his sleeves up. “Fine, I’ll do it myself, just watch him. And I will be reporting this incident directly to Agony.” Butch rolled his eyes, waiting until the other officer had disappeared into the aflame business before he gave his prisoner a good look over. A laugh bubbled past his lips.
“This is the best shit that’s happened to me all fuckin’ week. Turn around kid I’ll take the binds off.”
