All of my friends got into MDZS/CQL, and I was tempted to join them but ended up not doing so bc of study/workload. Now that you're posting about it, I know that I have to check it out as soon as my online classes are over. Also gotta finish reading your fics from this year, which will doubtlessly be wonderful <3

ima be honest, i had NO intention to get into cql. i got 15 eps in and i was like, well this is okay, feels very destiel/johnlock and whatnot but i’m not about to go back down that path. then i found out the guy who plays lwj is in a dance competition show, and said dance competition show was available online, for free, translated into english, so i thought yeah okay this will be something nice and relaxing to watch while i recover from grad coursework.

but then sdc3 turned out to require some of the highest emotional engagement i’ve ever had in a tv show. and then i ran out of episodes and went back to cql, which turned into CANON KIDFIC complete with EXTREME LOYALTY KINK, and by ep 33 i was sobbing, and by ep 43 i was sobbing some more, and i honest to god have never watched a show that felt like a straight injection of dopamine into my brain. it’s not like cw shows where you know when you’re watching it that the showrunner hates you, personally, and wants you to suffer. cql is more like “we want to stay close to the canon material but, yk, censorship.” and also the original danmei is, uh, spicy.

now some kind positive neural loop has been created in my brain where every time i see any cql related media at all i get this mild spark of joy, like oh right maybe love does exist somewhere, and for a second the world doesn’t seem so horrible. 

so here i am! unapologetically obsessed with this thing i thought i would never ever be interested in

ps i highly recommend when you get into it, watching the fansubs by @suibiansubs rather than the netflix subs. @jiaersubs on twitter has the sdc3 fansubs

K: What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with?

Oh man uhhh…this is kind of putting me on the spot, considering you’re usually privy to said ideas the second they appear in my brain. Uh, for this fandom…I would say it’s a toss-up between the Jonathan/Seelie Queen fic or the Jonathan/Malachi ficverse that I am unfortunately currently obsessed with/won’t shut up about.

For an idea I haven’t written….I’d been toying with the idea of a Metamorphoses inspired fic about Jonathan’s de-evolution in the finale. There’s something about him rolling on the ground under a tree surrounded by burning animals that’s uniquely Ovidian. And of course losing his humanity and sense of self or identity while also becoming ‘divine’/demonic.

S: Any fandom tropes you can’t resist? 

Uhhhh….okay for this fandom: Spaghetti Valentine, stabby Clary, tentacles??? (thank you lynne), this world inverted, c r i s p y b o y.

In general, I love mutual pining, cam(person?) fics, literally any kind of unhealthy power dynamic with a side of unhealthy smut, abo with massive amounts of worldbuilding or analysis of power dynamics, tentacles. Any kid of ot3?

T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?

Uhhh,,,, to be honest, not really? I’m less likely to go for high school AUs (despite having written one very long multichap) just because the quality is variable, I’m not big on crossovers unless its from someone I like a lot, I’ve never been huge on soulmates verses either? I’m not personally as into fuck or die (though I have def read it). I also tend to avoid pure fluff, but I’m not sure if that’s a trope.

Yoooo I been thinking really hard about that figure skating AU recently (for obvious reasons) and I can't believe that I've been imagining it wrong this whole time because I read the original prompt wrong. I pictured Ren n Hux as rival singles skaters but it says "they are the least compatible ice-dance team history has ever seen, but they’ve got to make it work" and I'm cryin this is 100x better *sobs*

i literally never ice danced but i had this lil handbook thingy full of the routines and boi it sent me into cold sweats just lookin at it and i kno m/m couples aren’t accepted for the ice dance yet formally but we will aggressively pretend the world is a better place than it is anyway back to ice dancing

so like i feel like hux is technically incredible but he’s v stiff. he’s not got v much flow. he’ll practice until his legs drop off but he never seems effortless, like he’s enjoying it, and he gets frustrated whenever his coach tells him this. Kyle is a disaster who has movement and power in his moves but hot damn the kid cant remember a single fucking thing? and the bitch wants to lead and shit but ????? he cant???? perform a program??? creating one for him is a fearful thing cos he’ll just fucking improvise?? he is an Artist™ and goddamn anyone in his way and also i feel like he never takes care of his goddamn skates and they’re always popping off fucking screws and it drives Hux WILD and not in the fun way

and bOY oh boi do they hate each other and ngl i originally imagined this at the pro skater level but also it being like a relatively low-level thing would also b cute cos like Hux would be like “THIS IS SERIOUS” and kyle is like “dude chill” also he t o t a lly chews gum on ice and probably has drawn a dick on ice in sharpie

and just Listen this has such potential and i still need 2 see YOI bc im irrationally attatched to so many of the charas and may have Shed a Single Manly Tear when it won like…..everything in that anime awards thing i dont really follow at all

ANYWAY BLESS YOU and honestly this AU keeps me up at night too but i remember relatively so little about ice skating so i feel like a Fraud. A FRAUD!!!!

Duuude okay check out this freshly baked headcanon: the reason why Jonathan's wings look different at different times is that he, as a shapeshifter, isn't initially 100% comfortable sprouting them yet, so he ends up with badly-preened chicken wings... then when he has a bit more practice and time to form them, he makes beautiful emo falcon wings. (The actual reason is probably that the producers dgaf about what CGI wing model they use for him but shhh I'm helping them out here.)

HGSLDKFjhg this is a fantastic headcanon but also I can definitely see that they come out all scraggly and chicken-y and Jonathan, emo hoe supreme, takes one look and goes “uhh needs more Drama” and makes them about 3 times bigger and sexier. At first he makes them eagle or vulture wings because, like, death, but then he’s brooding at the brooding fireplace about his Sad Childhood™ and settles on falcon for the #angst. Bonus points if it makes Jace cry.

I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure in his Insta live Luke talked about the wings as if they’re a real prosthetic/prop? So one set is probably CGI and the other practical….personally that just makes me wonder how many things Luke knocked over/how many times they broke because something that big CANNOT be fun to wear. like honestly im probably gonna scream my way through their introduction because this is gonna be fuckin Wild
