Like yeah, for one, it’s a back story about Ryume’s much younger days. When she’s still just another strong makai priestess and not... a watchdog. And it’s also a backstory of D-Ringo and the revelation that he WAS an average makai priest who’s not really that powerful yet because of that, led hid to take a path where he’d become a sort of travelling makai tools merchant who could aid occasional knights and priests with handy tools whenever needed.
(And somehow I wished there’s a side story that shows that maybe, post-VolCity, D-Ringo might have gone to Rian/Ryuga’s old Makai village and recover any of the lost makai tools. And/or gone to Tousei’s old place and if possible, recover all the many makai tools that his exiled makai priestess mother must have still kept before her death. But ah well... wishful thinking.)
Back to the episode...
As much as this episode might not be so appealing to some fans, I really like this exchange. Like even Ryume once had her moments of doubts in her own abilities, despite being a formidable priestess herself.
And this meeting with younger D-Ringo and Ginji did not just influence her only, but also affected both D-Ringo and Ginji to maybe lead a more decent life. Instead of being... yanno, petty thieves.
Ryume finds Emmett’s worst kept secret

Emmett tossed a shirt out of his bag with a worried look on his face. Several articles of clothing and other items littered the inn room he was currently occupying.
“Ahhhh where is it!?” A frustrated mage yelled.
Emmett was in the middle of a panic. He was frantically searching a lost memento from his late master. As he was searching he questioned if he could have left it at the last Inn, or if it fell out of his pack on the road.
"No...no...I remember seeing it after we checked in." The dog-eared mage began walking around the room. In his mind, he was retracing his steps over the past few hours.
“I did take out a map at the bar! It could have fallen out there.”
It was the only lead he had at the moment. Emmett ran out of his inn room, hopeful to find his missing book. He ran past Ryume sitting at the table reading a book with some snacks.
Emmett stopped mid-run as his mind started to process the image before him.
Something was wrong here. Ryume would rather run 50 laps around the city in the pouring rain than sit down and read a book. As Emmett looked at her hands, his face turned pale. Ryume was reading he Snu Snu Survival Guide, the very book he was looking for. The dog mage was happy he didn't lose the book but terrified that Ryume had it.
The Snu Snu Survival Guide contains many explicit, and very detailed acts of sexual intercourse between persons of normal size, and extra large women. Emmett didn't know how Ryume would react to the book. Would she think less of him? Would she be angry?
Ryume turned around to witness her partner having a small freak out. She could tell he must be overthinking things again.
"Hey Emmett, how's it going?" The Amazon spoke up.
“Uh, how...how did you get that?”
"You dropped it at the bar. I was gonna give it back to you, but I just got a little curious." Ryume said as she closed the book and handed it back to Emmett. "Hope you don't mind if I ask to borrow it sometime."
The short mage looked up with a curious glare “You...enjoyed it?”
"Yea! I could tell right away whoever wrote knows a lot about Amazonian culture and struggles. Some of it even sounds the advice Granma Ryusa gave me."
"Well, I'm glad it's accurate," Emmett said holding onto the book. To be honest, he was a little curious of what an actual Amazon thought of the book, but he was far too embarrassed to consider asking.
"Let's keep this between us alright?"
“Huh? Why?”
"Because I don't want people to know my feti-..what I'm into." He said with a slight blush.
“You shouldn't be embarrassed about what you love! In fact, you should be able to shout it from the rooftops!” Ryume said with a thumbs up.
Emmett sighed and shook his head “It’s not that simple Ryume. Besides I’m more “What happens behind closed doors stays...” The short mage looked back up to see Ryume reaching for the Inn window. Emmett quickly shot a small ice beam at Ryume’s backside
“EEEEK” The fighter jumped back and began to rub her butt. “That’s cold Emmett!”
“You were about to open the window and shout out something embarrassing weren’t you.”
"N-n-no." The Amazon said while looking away from Emmett's gaze.
“I can’t take my eyes off you for a second!” The mage said as sat at the table and slumped into the chair.
“Then keep your eyes on this!” Ryume yelled as she sat down on top of Emmett.
“Ooof!” Emmett yelped as he felt Ryume’s weight on top of him.
“I’ll just sit right here until my butts warmed up, that way you can keep an eye on me ok?” She said with a happy tone.
Emmett rolled his eyes but smiled. “Yea ok, this works too.”
I got these old screencaps in my draft for ages already, so might as well churn them out gradually (though, the posts may be out of order) and that includes meta. But I did finish watching Gold Storm anyway... so yea.
Have to say that as weird as Ryumei’s powers/abilities had been in the series, they're pretty to watch tbh
