summary : you were sick and frustrated about your day and seungcheol decides to remind you why he is your husband.

note : this was a fic from my old blog which i re-wrote and thought of posting it here. thank you @coupsalchemy for beta reading my drabble and helping me out. you're awesome and im glad you are a good friend of mine. these pictures do not belong to me, sole credit to the owners. this would be my entry to try and write more of these drabbles,so i hope you would like it.

The mess of clothes in the laundry, the beat noise of the ceiling fan, wind whooshing in through the windows after a chill summer evening.

If it were any other day, it would have been normal and kind of cozy to even think about the aesthetics of the day.

From sun filtering in through your second floor house window, long windows looking over a park nearby. A hint of cookies being baked from the bakery downstairs. Everything.

Every Single Thing.

But, you caught a cold. Everything now just makes you want to pluck your hair out because of the jumbled noise surrounding you making it hard to get a second of peace.

You didn’t know about others, but your glasses and the cold created a worst possible combination making you regret being alive.

The scrunch of your nose when you sneeze with your glasses on, kind of bloats your nose and the feeling throws your mood off more than ever.

Now, every little thing is just annoying you.

You clenched your hands, gritting your teeth and almost crying at the overstimulated feeling of everything.

“Did you fucking die?” Rushes in your one and only.

It wasn’t that regular for Seungcheol to curse. But it did happen, rarely and it was just all the feels.

He stood at the door, looking at you, standing in the middle of the hallway as your shoulders are slumped and bag on the floor as a wave of tears are swelling in your eyes despite the tight clenching on your hands.

“I got the difficult level of cold, Cheol.” You say, your blocked nose not helping you breathe and your sore throat restricting the attempt. Causing you to get frustrated as you struggle to convey it to him. The mess of your feelings and your physical actions making you feel down.

He gets it. Somehow he does. You never knew how though.

He walks over, places his hands on your shoulders as he slowly rubs them and leans down a bit to look at you.

“Good thing you called me. Didn’t want to free you out of jail” You swat his arm, a chuckle leaving you as you sniff out, eyes blurry with tears.

This was your deal. You were quite cranky when you got your “difficult level” of cold. It wasn’t that regular, thank god, but it did make you feel a lot at once.

Anything out of place, out of line, out of naturally set limits would just annoy you.

You did hate feeling this way. It would mostly result in your constant bursts on your friends if they did something and all, so they usually almost tried to avoid you when you were in a state like this. Which kind of was on the line with you during your periods.

“Now, my Firecracker. Wash up and by the time you come back, I’ll take care of this mess. Okay?” Your husband’s voice drops a little as he slowly nudges you towards the washroom.

You just nod, and walk that way to freshen up.

After half an hour or so, you finally get out of the hot shower in your comfy pajamas, and tie your hair up as you walk into the living room.

“Do I add salt in this or not?” Seungcheol’s voice can be heard from your kitchen so you walk towards it and peek at him cooking something and also is on the video call with someone you can’t exactly recognize from afar.

“Hyung, it’s not your first time doing it.” You hear Mingyu’s voice. You let down your glasses from your head to your eyes and find that the younger is on the other side of the video call.

“Shut up.” Your husband hushes him. His friend groans before saying that he is supposed to add a bit of salt in whatever the eldest was cooking.

Soon they both say their goodbyes, and Cheol holds onto the small pot with gloves as he sets it onto the table. He sets up the table with a bowl, some orange juice and spoon, looking at it like it’s his masterpiece.

“What were you cooking, Master Chef?” You ask, finally getting out of the corner and he startles for a second.

“Porridge.”

“Did you taste it?” You question, reminded of the one time he accidentally added more sugar instead of salt.

“Yes. Now, come here and eat it.”

You take your seat and he serves you the porridge. He takes his seat across you, hands on the table with his head in it as he looks at you expectantly

You take a sip, the warmth spreading through you even though it’s just porridge.

“It’s so good, Cheollie.” You sigh as you take another bite into it.

His smile spreads wide, and he asks you, “How are you feeling now?”

“A bit better? I’m sorry for acting that way earlier. I was sick doesn’t mean I had any right to be that angry. It was just irritating me that–“

“–Hey,” He holds onto your hands, his thumb running circles on your palms.

“It’s fine. If you didn’t act this way with me, with whom else would you do it with instead?”

“Thank you.” You whisper.

“Well, that's just how I love you. Remember our vows?”

“Oh yeah, I do.” You laugh as he does too.

“Through sickness and in health?” He tilts his head, as a question.

“Through sickness and in health!” You nod as he winks at you.

And as they say, you were going to be there for each other, through sickness and in health.
