There is a certain magic that, even after so long, Astraeus can’t seem to cease fascination with. He’s created stars for as far as he could remember and yet...
Feeling the way the magic pulls between his finger tips, the whispers of people’s infinite wishes curling in his mind and down his arm, into the star. A fleeting warmth that leaves him feeling just that much colder than before. Selene always glances his way in amusement, as if he were a child needing to be humored.
Astraeus never pays her any mind (at least not anymore) and smiles the tenderest of smiles as the star is brought to life, a flickering glow (but they always make it, yes, you’ll see) that transforms into a brilliant light.
He lets it go then, allowing the starling to take it’s place in the sky and fulfill the wish is was given.
Insight
Astraeus couldn’t believe it was truly happening. Just as Cronos had overthrown his tyrant of a father, Uranus, Zeus and the rest of his siblings were overthrowing the Cronos and the other Titans.
The battle for Mount Olympus is going on it’s tenth day now, and Astraeus couldn’t stand to participate. Too much blood shed, too much hatred and animosity. Most would call him a coward, and though secretly he was on Zeus’ side, he didn’t want to dirty his hands. He didn’t want to fight against people he once called companions, but he also didn’t want to be ruled by the son of a tyrant any longer.
Astraeus looks on from the mouth of Virgo, down down down to the Earth below and just as there is a flash of piercingly bright lightning, he hears Zeus let out a cry of triumph.
Olympus has finally been taken.
