☔ - Our muses playing in the rain
M U S E Seulgi ( Short Circuited )
“Thomas. It’s rain. It’s water. Water and electricity do not mix. I’ll fry.”
The male stood there trying his best to keep up the high spirits for the both of them. He knew life as a cyborg would be difficult for her. It would be a lifestyle change for the both of them. Things she used to be able to do would either now be impossible or she’d have to find tips and tricks to making life as normal as possible. He knew there would be some downsides but......he couldn’t live without her. It was absolutely not an option.
And yet.....he felt like he was playing God. Just a bit.
The rain. Playing in the rain had always been something they did together. He loved watching the smile just bloom on her face. Those cute chubby cheeks and god her ears. She hated them but her loved them. He loved everything about her. Cyborg or not, his feelings were the same. If anything, he loved her even more. Because now nothing could take her away from him. Nothing. Not even rain.
“I got it. Stay right there.”
And so she did. It still felt weird to move her body. To hear the soft hum of her motor instead of a heart. To hear the muffled sounds of gears turning whenever she’d move her limbs. This was her life now. And she knew her boyfriend meant well. She should be absolutely moved that he’d go to such great lengths to bring them back together. But.....she’d never get to live life the way she was meant to live it. Would she?
Watching him return from the bedroom, she blinked as he had brought out...well...everything. He really did think of everything. A long raincoat with a hood, rain boots, gloves. Not one part of her would be exposed. His smile was warm and that was when it dawned on her.....this was hard for him too. To keep up the positive attitude for both of them. That must have surly turned exhausting after awhile. And here she had been wallowing in what was self pity. When she should have been showing her gratitude. Smiling warmly with love in her eyes, she nodded gently.
“Okay, Thomas. Let’s go play.”
And that seemed to give him the boost of energy he needed. Smiling ten times brighter, he nodded and immediately started to help her into the coat; zipping it up and putting her hood up. And of course what kind of boyfriend would he be if he didn’t help her with each glove and each boot? And boom. She was good to go. All geared up. But then he started to put his own coat, hat, gloves, and boots on.
“Thomas? You never wore a coat when we---”
“I know. But neither did you......It’s only fair that I wear it too.”
Normally, her heart would have been pounding in her chest. He was always going the extra mile for her. He was always sacrificing so much for her. Yes. She had been selfish and ungrateful for everything he had done for her. Smiling, she took his hand and he slowly opened the door to carefully lead the way outside. It was pouring down. But she stayed dry as a bone. Thanks to him.
He brought her out to the yard where they stood. His hands taking both of hers. Kissing each gloved hand, he said over the rain,
“I know life is going to be different. Not everything is going to be like it used to be. We have our traditions. But let’s use this new life as a means to make new traditions. New memories.”
God he was amazing. And he was all hers. He had done so much for her. Was he even real? Was she dreaming? She stared up at him with amazement when he came in close and they shared a soft kiss. He had thought of everything really. When he built her. He had thought of every sensory mechanism she’d need. And that was how she was able to feel his lips on hers. She may not have a real heart that could beat, but boy was her motor running. That was her new heart.
And then they were....dancing. How cheesy. Right? But she loved it. Sure there was no flowing dress or the feel of the rain in her face, but this was just as good. Their new tradition. Their new beginning. She’d never look at raincoats the same way again. All thanks to him and his love. His endless eternal love for her. She was truly blessed.
