Selina had always liked Stephanie a lot, perhaps more than the other bats. Stephanie had come from a rough background, just like Selina, and, just like Selina, she had to deal with the misogyny and sexism rife in an upbringing like that. More than any of that, however, Stephanie had a spunk and positive attitude that Selina found commendable—it was much better than her own attitude at that age, when she didn’t care about anyone or anything but herself. So, she made a point of spending time with Steph, even if that meant being the one to cook dinner sometimes. “I hope you’re no expecting anything gourmet. I’ve been a takeout kind of gal for quite a while.”
