Sorry this took so long, I got distracted with uh, life, and feeling way too much/too little and also I had Ideas, but couldn’t connect the dots. Anyway!

You sneak in late at night, when no one is thinking of visitors anymore. When he’ll be asleep. When you don’t have to look at the consequences of your actions in daylight.

Sure, you didn’t put Ricardo in the hospital yourself this time, but you might as well have. He’s still here because of what you did. The Catastrofiend wouldn’t have gotten out to take him down if you—

No. Don’t go there, that just leads to unraveling and panic and the hospital staff will see you and you’ll never be free again. Being emotional is fine, but take another road.

So you take the long way to his room. Out of cowardice. You don’t want to face this particular mistake, but the uncertainty is worse. That’s what gets you through the door.

There’s… less than you expected. Maybe it only looked bad on the news? But they still kept him here. And then you see why. The gashes must run deep, the way his shoulder, upper arm, part of his chest, almost to his throat, are packed in bandages. The same shoulder that you hit. Another reason why this is your fault.

There’s a chair next to the bed and you sink down in it. You take his hand between yours, trying and failing not to squeeze it, pretending your breathing is fine so maybe eventually it will be.

He squeezes back. You flinch. Had you been able to move, you’d be running for the nearest exit already, but there’s a pair of tired brown eyes looking at you. Rooting you to the spot.

“Hey there.” You don’t know if it’s sleep or pain making his voice so gravelly, but it doesn’t matter much. All you know is that you did this and he’s still glad to see you and it’s all wrong. The tears run hot over your cheeks and then he’s half sitting up, reaching out. He is comforting you and you’re the one that hurt him and nothing makes sense, but there’s an arm around you and maybe things are okay. Maybe you can just disappear into this.

A wince brings you back to reality, and you shove yourself backwards, away, far enough that you’ll stop hurting him.

“Leigh? What’s…?”

Whatever he was going to ask dies out as you’re already turning for the door. You never should have come back. To this room, to him, to this fucking city, to—to life. 

You don’t know how he keeps reading you so well, and you’re not sure it matters. Not when he’s getting up and you’re stopping because what else can you do and. 

You move purely on instinct, reaching out as you go. Just barely manage to steady him as he stumbles, but you made it and your arms are around him, tightly, and his weight is mostly on you. It’s a very precarious balance, but you don’t want to leave anymore.

“I got you,” you mumble belatedly, pushing him back to the bed. His hand stays on your shoulder, not quite squeezing, but with enough of a hold that you wonder if he’s trying to stop you from running again.

You end up crawling in the bed next to him, let him put his head on your chest. Almost convince yourself this can be a peaceful moment, but you can’t set aside the pain you’ve been–and still are–causing him.

“I have something to tell y—“

“No,” he cuts you off before you can even start explaining what or why.

“Ricardo, I…” How do you even tell someone—

“I said no. I know you’ve got secrets and they run deep. I won’t like them, I know that, too.” You don’t even know how to cut in anymore. Let his words wash over you, as he continues. “But don’t tell me. Not now. I want to be able to bear it and… I don’t think I can, not tonight.”

You want to argue. You try to agree. You only manage a sort of hum, acknowledge his words. Don’t cry now, save that for later. For now just stick with comfort and warmth and let him fall asleep against you.

So uh

If you’re a saboteur, on Meksha, if you sabotage Darth Shaar’s (or maybe I guess Darth Vowrawn’s, if Acina is still alive) plan to blow up the refueling ships, she just resorts to trying to steal control of Meksha from that one lady (I forget her name, she’s a lizard) and you can stop her by having Lana just CUT HER FUCKING HEAD OFF

As fantastic as that moment was on its own (WE SEE HER HEAD FALL TO THE FLOOR FROM BEHIND AND SIT LIKE TWO FEET AWAY FROM THE REST OFHER), several characters walk in after that and Have Some Thoughts About That, Anri and Theron being the only ones I remember,and their reactions are more or less

Anri saying something to the effect of “They don’t pay me enough to ask what happened”

and Theron, still shocked at a HEADLESS BODY isn’t exactly surprised that it happened and declares “I got bored waiting in the car and hoookay. I guess it was one of THOSE kinds of missions. Can we go home now??”

6) Favorite death (monster, player character, NPC, etc).

Oh man, this is hard.

Favorite monster death was in my first playthrough of Curse of Strahd, when I chucked a bottle of alchemist fire at a vampire tree and rolled a nat20. The DM narrated how the other party members used magic so the bottle would sail up into the boughs of the tree, where it burst and lit the awful tree aflame, raining embers down on everything below. Very cinematic moment I can still picture in my mind!

Favorite player character death was in my second playthrough of Curse of Strahd recently. Our rather young and naive party member – Xavier – had done something that had drawn Strahd’s personal ire (but it’s a spoiler), and the vampire lord dropped in on us without warning to kill the poor kid. My much older and fatherly dusk elf – Jesko – tried his very best to get in between Strahd and the boy, to literally shield Xavier with his body. Unfortunately, Strahd killed him anyway – and then dropped a fireball on the group as a parting gift, killing Jesko. So the last thing on Jesko’s mind as he died was hatred of Strahd, and remorse for being unable to protect the kid. As a result, he rose again the next day, as a very angry and vengeful revenant.

24) How much planning/preparation do you do for a game?

The answer is both “very little” and “a lot” rofl.

I don’t exactly do a lot of prep work or planning when it comes to reading up on mechanics. I actually PURPOSELY try not to play spellcasters so that I don’t have to do spell prep before each session. Whoops!

But roleplay and character planning and preparation, that I do A TON of. I put a lot of effort into planning a character and their backstory before I ever enter the first session of a campaign. And I honestly spend a lot of time daydreaming between sessions, thinking about what my character would do in (x) situation, or what they’d say in (y) conversation, and so on. I’m not that great at improv, and it helps me to think ahead haha. 

27) Do you allow homebrew content?

Idk how to answer this one, since I’m not a DM!

If I ever do DM a campaign, I don’t think I will. Unearthed Arcana and CR stuff is fine, but in my experience as a player with other players, allowing homebrew content for one person means allowing it for everyone. Which is usually not a good thing. Where one player might handle homebrew stuff fine, 10 others are going to want to play some niche crazy homebrew bullshit half demon half one winged angel samurai/saiyan multiclass, or some other hot mess that makes your life more difficult as a DM – and makes it difficult for other players at the table to get equal spotlight time.
