LTP-Learning a foreign language

My raw footage (posted last week) is consisted of my narration of my thoughts of learning a foreign language. I want to combine more people’s idea of this studying process. So I have invited several of my friends taking a video and talking about their thoughts about learning a foreign language. 

Some of them talked about the advantages of learning a language, some talked about why and how. People’s perspectives are different so that they have many various thoughts different from mine.

Many of them are my french class peers so I choose several famous French songs as background songs:

For those who illustrate learning English as their experience of learning a foreign language, I personally like Yankee Doodle very much so I decided to use this song, I haven't decided which pop song I am going to use in the video. Recent pop songs are mostly about how to spend money or romantic relationships(though I quite like them) so I cannot think of a perfect match yet.

For those who have learned Korean or Japanese as their third language, I will just put some Korean and Japanese pop songs from their choices as background sound. 

I want to put more footage of filming french classes, Japanese classes and Korean classes and of course, English writing classes between different people talking about their ideas in learning a language.

I will use my personal narration as connection between different sessions. From different people, I guess I will receive different response of their attitudes. 

The genres are basically:

1)why they wanted and started to learn a foreign language;

2)talking about the advantages and disadvantages of learning a language; 

3)talking about some tips about learning a foreign language;

4)the bitter and sweet, personal stories of learning a language.

I hope through this video, I can learn more about myself. Because everyone of them is a mirror of myself. Of course, I hope this can inspire more people also.

After trimming a 15 minute post of raw video to 3 minutes and 30 seconds I am finally able to submit my video proposal of how my life is based on my adventurous nature and love for driving

Short-term Media Project No.10b: Raw sketch

The Raw footage that I have is a normal day in my life and a migraine day in my life. Basically defining what sources call a migraine. Talking about how it feels and how it affect my life. placing in clips of outside source that demonstrate what i’m saying. I plan to narrate some parts and just have other parts purely action . I wish to bring audience into the true feeling of a migraine. I was very intentional with what I shot so there isn’t a lot  to cut it’s just a matter of putting things in order so that it flows.

Raw Film Footage Plan

I filmed multiple different types of footage for my documentary discussing my experiences with Greek life in order to shed light on the common misconceptions associated with it. The footage includes the following:

Interviews: 

Jessa Bedser (7 min) - In SDT house;  new sister of SDT: discusses her experience in how joining a sorority gave her a home where she felt totally accepted

Tiffany LaRusso (4.5 min) -  In dorm; new sister of SDT; discusses her experience with the stigmas associated being a “sorority girl”

Christie Tully (4 min) - Outside SDT house; sister of SDT for 3 years; discusses how being in a sorority has impacted her world and college experience

B-Roll:

Outside of SDT house (12 sec) - panorama of sorority house

POV inside house (46 sec) - Walking around downstairs of house with sister lounging about; walks up stairs and into room with sisters doing homework and hanging out

Short-Term Media Project 10b

For my raw footage, I have collected footage of me interacting with my friends to get to know some of my relationships and personality better. As I am going to focus my documentary on me being a gay pakistani muslim, I feel it is important for people to get an idea of how I feel about myself and how I translate those feelings into words and interactions with other people. It takes form in reeanacting ways my friends and I hangout on a daily basis and the jokes we make about my sexuality, followed by interviews of how I used to be about my sexuality vs how I am now. I hope the interviews will be a good intro in setting up the film, in representing how I feel about all my labels and how I react to them.

Short Term Media Project 10b

For my raw footage, I’ve collected videos of interviews with different mutual friends that me and my boyfriend have. I’ve also filmed ourselves completing different tasks (shopping, doing homework, working out, etc). The beginning of my film will feature me introducing my boyfriend to the audience so they can get to know him. I will edit my film by putting all the footage in the order that I want it to go. I will also include videos that i’ve filmed from a while ago and put it in my video. My editing will also include background music, volume changes and good transitions. I also plan on cutting out parts of my raw footage that were either mistakes or that i felt needed to be deleted.

In this video, I am interviewing Naadiya Drake, the News Director of the college radio station 90.3FM The Core. I asked her questions about how she got involved in the news team and her experiences being the News Director.
