Lines look good from the back of the SE and the wheels fit well but I have had a couple of niggly scrapes from the wheels in the arches.
@scorpion_speed_design After inspecting the tyres fitted to the 17″ rims I find I have 235/45 on the front and 225/45 on the rears. The scrapes I have had have been from the rear off side after bottoming into a dip and theres scrapes at full lock from the fronts when reversing. Also, perhaps obviously with wider tyres the steering does creak a little at full lock too as the power steering is being stretched to twist that rubber on the tarmac which I never noticed before.
So I investigated by doing something radical... I checked the instruction book that came with the car(!). This is surprisingly useful, it has already identified the correct auxiliary belt size needed for this AC model and even includes the size needed for a non-AC model.
Judging by the tech spec. I’m using oversized tyres on Viggen sized wheels. From what I see around, I don’t think I will be the first. What are other people running?
Just why the Viggen would be capable of having larger wheels and tyres I don’t know, perhaps its a marketing thing or perhaps the body is different? Maybe somebody can offer a suggestion?
If Viggen wheels and tyres could be used on normal 9-3′s then my rears are 5mm too proud or I need stiffer springs. (Maybe removing 5mm of wheel arch might be an option).
