Don & Ray, the couple that owns this historic home, saved it from abandonment. They kept its weathered clapboards and the ones that needed to be replaced were smeared w/mud from a nearby stream to encourage the oxidation process. 

New furniture was placed in the living room to give it a modern touch.

This fireplace looks original, but it’s not- it was installed to separate the kitchen & living room. 

The antique appliances were purchased from a vintage dealer and a salvaged workbench is the island.

The tabletop was made from a red oak tree on the property.

The original stairs that divide the house.

They made a bathroom out of a corner of the master bedroom.

There were 6 small bedrooms, but walls were knocked down to make a large master, 2 guest rooms, and a bath. It must’ve been fun to, as the owners say, do a “makeunder.”
