saar ask game, 12, 13, 39?

12. does rook have any family? do they keep in touch?

YES! he has a twin sister who is also my twin's rook! her name is lavinia, she is a mourn watcher, and she belongs to @empyreansentinel! they were separated when they were babies- their mother took lavinia and left the qun, but saar was left behind. neither of them know the other exists until they meet during the events of datv! otherwise, no; saar has no family.

13. did rook bring any trinkets/sentimental items to the lighthouse?

technically yes! his horn! before joining varric and the others, saar didn't really have any belongings he had much personal attachment to- except for his replacement horn. he lost it while fighting an ogre and defending the village in the thorne backstory; a replacement was made as thanks by the villagers. he ends up losing it later on during the dragon attack on treviso, though :(

1: how old is rook?

saar is in his mid 50s! i keep going back and forth on the exact number, but he's about 56.

5: what was life like for Rook before joining the veilguard?

honestly? pretty lonely. saar is a warden, and not one that is particularly liked amongst the other senior wardens. he had a few friends (evka and antoine) but struggled with making connections among the rest. he mostly kept to himself when he wasn't with evka and antoine and stayed away from larger groups of people- even other wardens. going from that to traveling constantly with varric and harding and then living at the lighthouse was a big change for him!

32: how would a desire demon tempt rook?

if a desire demon can 'humanize' itself enough to saar then it could tempt him. not with something he wants, but by convincing him that he could give it something it needs, something no one else could give to it. a life of its own, a chance to experience something. saar is close to death from the calling; he doesn't want a cure, he doesn't want power, or knowledge, or any fleeting affection that the demon could give him. but the chance to help someone that no one else will spare a glance to? he's weak to it.

49. what will always make them laugh?

saar isn't much of a laugher! but there is absolutely an undeniable joy he gets when he's around his companions and they're at ease and messing with each other/picking on each other. he gets roped into it so easily. but also generally taash. taash is soo fucking funny to him lol

worst part about playing saar as my first rook is that im so attached to him. i love him and can't imagine my canon rook being anyone else. which is making playing through the game as isera SO hard because all i want to do is just replay it as saar

i'm so glad everyone is so not normal about saar <3. have a small collection of the many asks ive gotten for him. he cannot match any of your energies but he'd be flattered and flustered anyways, im sure
