The rambunctious tyke scrambled across the beach, kicking up puffs of sand as he chased after the group of slimes. “Come here you!” Malroth shouted as he reached out to grab a slime- but just before he could close his grip around it, the slippery blue glob squeezed out of his grasp. Unbalanced from the lunge, the boy cried out in alarm when he lost his footing and landed face first into a mound of sand.
Groaning, and spitting out the grains of sand, he then let out an angry growl, “Aaauggh! Why can’t I catch just one of them!?” Rubbing his scratched up nose Malroth’s ears pricked up at the sound of laughter over the noise of crashing waves.
Scowling, he looked over his shoulder and leered at his caretaker. “Hey! Stop laughing!”
The person lounging on a nearby dune stifled their laughter. “Looks like you’re having trouble catching them Malroth.” Margaret stopped petting the Great Sabrecub laying beside her and leaned forward. Pressing her elbow into her leg and resting her face in the palm of her hand she smiled at the child in her charge, the Drackmage fluttering off her shoulder at the movement.
Malroth threw his arms in the air in frustration. “They’re just too fast!” And with that exclaimed, he fell back into the sand huffing and crossing his arms.
The seven slimes he was trying to catch grouped back together- a metal slime even had the audacity to jump onto his chest and grin down at him. There was a moment of silence between everyone as Malroth and the slime stared each other down.
“RAH!” Malroth bolted up- arms wrapping around thin air as the metal slime darted away to the other slimes now gathering around Margaret.
“See!” He fumed, even more so when all the slimes started giggling. “I don’t get it! How do you even manage to catch them Mar?” The alchemist chuckled.
“Want me to give you a hint?” His expression quickly brightened.
“What’s the hint!?”
She gave him a cheeky grin. “Have patience.” Malroth let out another aggravated groan and flopped back into the sand.
“I’m serious, have patience. You’ll manage to catch one eventually. Now then-” She gestured for the slimes to get back into their positions. “Do you want to try again?”
Malroth energetically jumped back to his feet and punched the air. “Yeah!”
