Valentine’s Day

Of course Steve has spent Valentine’s day with girls before, before the ‘big freeze’....hadn’t he? There was that one girl....but things didn’t end up well and he didn’t like to talk about that. This was different, Sabine was different than any other woman he’d ever thought about being with. Of course she was sweet and caring, but she was gorgeous and any other man was sure to be jealous. That was part of the reason why he didn’t want to take her out. He didn’t want any other man to get the idea that they could take her from him. 

But tonight it was going to be different. He’d bought a dress for her and left it on the bed. When she got home from work she’d take a shower and get ready and, hopefully, change into the dress he had picked for her. He’d come back in about an hour with flowers and chocolate, then they’d go out for dinner. But the wait until he went back was always killer.

Joker looked around her club, waiting for some guy who wanted to go into business with her. Most people like that barely made it through the first meeting, so this would be interesting. Her tight purple dress made her feel confident as she tapped a green heel on the floor. Where was this guy? He'd better not have chickened out and wasted her time or she was going to be pissed.

The tall demon lay on the broken floorboards of his house with his chin resting on his arms, completely bored out of his mind. The Losers were on a ‘vacation’ and he was told to stay put. He pouted and whined in protest, but they stayed firm. They promised him treats and little trinkets when they returned. 

“They better come back soon”, he grumbled. It wasn’t until he got to know the kids did he realize how much he hated being alone. Rolling on his back, he looks out the window with a long sigh, hoping for something interesting to happen.

“Because I wanted it.” He chuckled softly, seeing no harm in what he had done, none whatsoever. Hearts, whether made of cotton candy or dog shit, were made for the taking and indeed, the BREAKING. It was hardly his fault though, seeing as she had worn such a heart on her sleeve. That was just an advertisement that she wanted it to be stolen. He didn’t have to give her HIS HEART in return, did he? Well, maybe he would… in time.

“I needed it,” he said next, shrugging playfully. “Umhm. I… NEEDED… it,” he repeated, enunciating each word carefully. He folded his arms now, kicking at the ground with one foot in a lazy way. “My chest’s empty since my heart got moved t’my cheek… so I figured I needed t’put somethin’ in there. YOUR heart was… available.” He tilted his head, giving a smirk. “It was jus’ SOOOO SWEET not t’steal,” he reasoned, raising a finger to his lips and sucking on it with an audible murmur of relish, as though he were EATING her sweet heart.

Joyce had an old water bag filled with water and ice held up to her face. “It’s fine. My husband and I just got a little too rough.” She lied.

Severin arrived at the restaurant for Isabelle's birthday lunch a little late, dropping wrapped presents. He looked a bit flustered as he sat and apologized

“It’s fine,” she laughed. “I’m just glad you’re here.” She squeezed his hand and smiled.
