endearing douches and empathy
(this entry was written (longhandedly) yesterday, but posted today, because I was sick yesterday, so I stayed away from the computer, so it's typed up today.)
basically, note: all this happened yesterday. today is my resting, get-well-soon day.
anyway,
so today, i went to chapters with my friends alex and alex. they are the most wonderful people and i love hanging out with them. i mean, these people are people i can discuss the term 'endearing douche' with, and they take me seriously-ish. whatever the case, they humour me.
i can talk to them about pop music/culture (well, granted, only one of them, the other alex is a little behind on anything cultured. ;P) to describing tina fey's literal manhands to anything else in the world. like pennames, like humour books, like uncouthfool moments, like subway sandwiches, like paparazzi, like celebrities, like philosophies, like religion, like hitch-22 and then catch-22, like...
just so much like. no no, love. so so much love for the two alex's. <3
and because i don't like being a sentimental fool anymore than i like being an uncouth fool... MOVING ON.
we started off the day by talking about reading sad meaningful depressing shit meant for adults and their various enlightened-lifechanging midlife crisis moments, but because my friends are actually quite couthful, we are teenagers who read and enjoy these kind of books.
yupp. you heard right. no teenage angst for us with a wilted rose on the front cover, we read books about hedgehogs, and world war II and biographies and pickup lines and video games (portal anyone?).
...
so maybe we're not sooo couthful. ah well. and no, not a typo (i do know how to spell youthful, thankyou very much), i firmly believe that couthful is a word, and if it isn't, then copyright 2011 Conn.
also another copyright 2011: endearing douche. this is a term that i now declare that i coin, with the two alex's, but i enjoy taking the credit anyway.
today, we've also learned many things:
1. agatha christie is indeed DEDD, and a mystery writer (this was alex's lightbulb-whack-in-the-head-duh-youuncouthfool moment)
2. milestone notebooks/journals are possibly the most gorgeous things in life. seriously. it's a nice black leather cover (or obnoxiously neon coloured, according to your preference) and it's SO PURDY. the pages inside are also super good quality, and the lines are the perfect width apart (note: not too wide) and ... ah... just so tempting.
and also fucking expensive. seriously, so fucking expensive. i mean, a little palm-sized thin notebook is SIXTEEN DOLLARS.
i am not made of money. and my gramma would actually chop my head off, because i have a huge cardboard box FULL of notebooks. (they're just really ugly).
but still. you don't understand people, these notebooks are SO PURDY.
that is all.
