Agreed, haven’t gotten a liking to Captain Marvel yet as, like you said, the character seems bland. Hopefully the actual movie will be better in showing us her, than the trailers, but that’s a heavy “if”

Yeah. The really weird thing is, Captain Marvel was actually more popular back when she was still Miss Marvel. But when they promoted her, they systematically took away everything that made her likable in the first place. You’d think the filmmakers would’ve looked at that situation and fixed it by going more towards how the character was when she was well liked. But no, for some reason they seem to be doubling down on the version of the character nobody actually wants. It’s kinda mindboggling, really.
