Awww, Elfie, She is beautiful just like her mom, its nice to see such a pretty princess.
Gratitude, mon cher. She was rather pleased with it, and that pleases me. You have an aptitude for making a girl flush...

@samhallphd:
Hey, I’m Sam. Thanksgiving is awesome as always, Welcome to the site. Are you a Los Angeles native?
Nice to meet you, Sam. I don’t tend to do much for Thanksgiving as I’m not American. I only ever do anything if I’m invited to someone’s house to eat. I’m definitely not a native, no.

Elfie’s dress was ensnared in the zipper. A war on an elemental level, she had found her figure with relative haste and was overjoyed in dawning her favored dress. Her grandmother’s display of a seam ripper, countless mendings, and a fifties instruction guide flittered into her thoughts in quick succession. Though, not finding the time, she settled with a cardigan and a glance in a mirror. She was polished, preened, pinching her cheeks to bring a rosy flush.
What was she doing, bringing another man into her home, her life, inflating her own ceaseless hope? This never ended well. She was always passed by, in death or otherwise, alone again. Toying with the turn of her engagement ring, she vowed not to find attachments. refused. This was a simple dinner. Nothing more.
Never the less, she would be an excellent hostess, darning her table with the charm and grace of a townhouse embedded in a field of flowers. Tallulah was peaking out the window, standing on the counter with her nose against the window glass. “I’m waiting for your friend, Maman. You said he was very nice.”
"He is." Elfie settled the apron around her waist, pulling the pan of pasta from the oven with a satisfied grin. It oozed with cheese and the precise craft of her hand. "Down, mon cher, I would not wish for you to fall."
She held Tallulah's hands as she jumped. A soft patter of bare feet stopped at the bassinette. Her voice was a veiled whisper. "Machiavelli Maman's friend will be here soon. Friends are more important than naps. Don't you think?"
Headlights in the night, Tallulah scrambled to the door, talking into the keyhole. "Are you my Maman's friend? If you aren't, I can't let you in."
