Hatchet Crab - Sacred

Funky crabs! They're eusocial, a rarity for crustacean monsters, having regular crabs, larger hunters and an even bigger queen.

They have a whole island all to themselves, since nobody is fool enough to get in the way of the crab army. Or, well, if they are they just get eaten.

I like their pointy probosces and catlike eyes.

Insect Larva - Sacred

Appearing as both small and giant variants (that actually do have differing sizes, unlike the Armored Lice), these many-legged larvae have an eyeless head and a vertebrate maw with vicious teeth.

It's not clear what they're the larvae of. They mostly appear near Blooded Terrors, which should logically have nymphs instead, and Titanic Flies, which are realistic enough that I'd assume that they would have realistic maggots too.

Maybe they're not connected to any of the other bugs in the game and are just meant to resemble Xenomorph larvae. They got the vibes, as much as anything with no eyes and sharp teeth does.

Titanic Fly - Sacred

Huge flies that hit you with their stretchy probosces. They mostly just crawl on the ground instead of flying, but they still make sure to continuously flap their wings to produce a buzzing noise.

I enjoy that there is a game where you can be attacked by hordes of massive flies that crawl toward you.

Their blood is used by a druid to make medicine in order to cure a plague.

Armored Louse - Sacred

This heavily armoured, three-legged beast has a face like a chitinous mole rat, which is something I never knew I wanted to see. They're split into "small" and "giant" versions, but they are actually the same size. The only difference is that the "giant" version has a green, mossy texture.

Seems to be a pack hunter, but I suppose it's hard not to be when you're in a Diablo-like.

Tarantula Mortis and Burning Araneida - Sacred

While this game has a slew of more generic spider enemies, the Tarantula Mortis is both the largest and most visually interesting. It has a distinct head, unlike real spiders, which has a very soft and fleshy look to it that makes it feel slightly unnatural. Neat.

Despite how massive and powerful it is, one got captured and put in a zoo. Perhaps it was captured as a hatchling. It could probably easily escape by climbing over the walls, if it wanted to, so maybe it's content with being fed.

It also has a red, flaming variant called the Burning Araneida, which is classified as a demon. Note the screaming skull pattern. It's quite rare too, only appearing in the basement of one dungeon.

Lashing Terror - Sacred

An insectoid monster about the size of a bear with scythe-like claws, bird-like feet and a goofy trunk located between a pair of vicious mandibles. The massive, teardrop-shaped eyes give it an alien quality.

I think it manages to look both comical and threatening at the same time.

There are brown "Small Lashing Terrors" and grey "Lashing Terror Workers", but both are the same size. Interestingly, the workers aren't just a recolour; their eyes have a very different shine effect. Not sure if it's part of the texture like the standard version's, but it looks a lot more natural.

Blooded Terror - Sacred

It's a big red insect with four legs and no wings. Highly violent and will stab you with its front legs. Feels very orthopteran.

Luckily they tend to mostly stay around other, smaller enemies instead of forming swarms of their own

They're even used as mounts by some unholy goons who aren't even strong enough to count as actual demons. I think the bugs would be better off just eating them.
